📍Lake Iseo, Italy 🇮🇹

And yes, you’ve seen it right this is a dedicated cycling track!
This bit of the lake loop starts at Vello and ends at Pisogne. So you don’t have to ride the busy and super scary tunnels with the cars.

📍Lake Garda, Italy 🇮🇹
Just outside of Riva Del Garda

Be ready for narrow tunnels and quite a bit of a traffic. If you do the loop and starting from the northern part of the lake (around Riva Del Garda area) I’d definitely start super early and go anti- clockwise (lake on your left) so that you avoid the heavy traffic and get the tunnels out of your way.

The hangin bridge is stunning, however it is only a couple of kms long, so be (mentally) ready to ride on the road amongst cars…

A huge ✅ on my bucket list - Stelvio Pass

By far the most beautiful and emotional ride I’ve ever done in my life. (I cried a LOT during the climb - from joy & and being grateful to be here.)

I’ll definitely be back 💖

Here are some stats:
Stelvio is a constant climb and there aren’t flatter sections where you can recover your legs. You’ll be fine if you can maintain 2w/kg for 3 hrs.
My “strategy” was to glow slow and steady as I was very scared of the steepness of the last section and was reserving my energy for that…

I took most of the photos/videos on the descend as the way up was quite challenging and I was just happy to keep going while I could. I timed my stops so that I would have a short break at approx every 45-50 mins.
There are 2 restaurants on the way up and 1 water fountain (actually one restaurant is at the very bottom of the climb and one is at turn 28) so you’ll not have a lot of chances to stop and break. Pack plenty of nutrition.

The weather can be very cold on top (I guess I was not feeling it due to the adrenalin) however the descend was brutally freezing as the entire side of the mountain was in the shade. Pack gloves!

There are 3 main ascend routes where you can start the climb:

From Prato allo Stelvio (North/East): This is the iconic, most famous route with 48 numbered hairpin turns over 24.8 kilometers, gaining 1,851 meters of elevation at an average gradient of 7.4% - the one I rode as well. Prad is a tiny village so make sure you have got everything with you what you may need for the ride as there aren’t any bike shops and the one supermarket in the village is closing at 7 PM.

From Bormio (South/West): A smoother and slightly shorter climb of 21.5 kilometers, gaining 1,533 meters of elevation with 40 switchbacks and an average gradient of 7.1%.
You’ll find everything here what you need as there are plenty more of bike shops.

From Santa Maria Val Müstair, Switzerland (via Umbrail Pass): A quieter alternative scaling the Swiss side over the Umbrail Pass (2,501 meters) before joining the final stretch of the Stelvio summit road.

POV: if you are a tourist in front of Casino Monte Carlo - they open at 2:00 PM and there is a dress code - if you may be considering to play a quick bet while sightseeing

This little beach is just magical - Villefranche-sur-Mer

Monaco Harbour - I haven’t discovered the route yet to get down to the F1 paddock area, it would be amazing to ride there - I’ll buy you🍾if you may know! Merci ✨

📍Bogn di Zorzino - Lago d’Iseo, Italy

The lake is absolutely stunning and the roads are super quiet and safe to cycle - regardless of your level. The lake loop is approx 65-70 km (depending on where you start) and most of the way you’ll find a dedicated cycling lane - just wow!
