Eine Ausstellung über die Themen, die unsere Gegenwart prägen – von Wohnungsnot und mentaler Gesundheit bis zu sozialer Ungleichheit und Zukunftsängsten. Und gleichzeitig ein Raum für Austausch, Begegnung und neue Perspektiven.

With Cyclops I’m setting up a playground/Laboratory for photographers and myself to curate shows in popups and temporary spaces. Cyclops will feature digital and analog projects. I want to match the space to the images/project and enhance the exhibition experience to set itself apart from the formula of “clean prints in black frames on white walls, 150cm high”.

I chose the cyclops with an aperture for his eye as the icon because to me the camera as a machine is as mighty as an one eyed giant, it can produce great works with ease but sometimes you have to trick it to do your bidding otherwise it might just eat you alive. With the first show in February 2024 Cyclops will take his first step.

The next Photo Crit will take place on Sunday, June 7th, from 14:00–16:00. In our current exhibition “Krisen von Jetzt” at @aff_galerie

Our critique sessions are an open space to share work, exchange perspectives, and sharpen our photographic eye together. Whether you’re just starting out or have been photographing for years, all levels of experience are welcome.

Together we’ll talk about projects, ideas, sequencing, and the different ways photographs can be read. A Photo Crit thrives on dialogue: different perspectives, honest feedback, and collective reflection on images.

Each participant gets around 20 minutes. You can bring finished projects, works in progress, or single photographs — or simply come by, listen, and join the conversation. Digital and analogue work are equally welcome. The only important thing: please bring prints, any kind and any quality is fine. Once the images are laid out on the table, conversations can begin. To make sure we have time to talk about your project, please signup via the link in our bio.

This group exhibition traces the struggles and crises that have come to shape the 2020s, issues that surface in everyday life in Berlin and resonate with many of us personally. It reflects on the societal catastrophe of homelessness, mental health and the failing public health system, deepened by growing economic inequalities, uncontrolled housing market alongside questions of militarization and what kind of future we are building for the next generation.

“Shifted Core” @xulididit
Die Gruppenausstellung zeichnet jene Kämpfe und Krisen nach, die die 2020er Jahre prägen und die im Berliner Alltag spürbar werden. Sie widmet sich den sozialen Herausforderungen von Obdachlosigkeit und psychischer Gesundheit, die durch wachsende Ungleichheiten verschärft werden, sowie Fragen der Aufrüstung und der Zukunft, die wir für kommende Generationen gestalten.
Jede künstlerische Position findet ihren eigenen Weg in dieses gemeinsame Terrain und entwickelt eine eigene Perspektive und Bildsprache, bis die Werke miteinander ins Gespräch treten und diese drängenden Wirklichkeiten behutsam ins Licht rücken
