EDUCATION FOR BALI >>>

Earlier this year, so many of you generously donated to my fundraiser, and together we raised enough money to build two homes for families in need. Two actual homes!! I still find that incredibly emotional and honestly can’t thank you all enough!!

This month, I want to focus on something else every child should have access to: an education.

It’s not lost on me that I won the lottery in life simply because of where I was born. I was able to go to school, have a childhood, develop hobbies, make friends and dream about what I wanted to do with my life. I know there are girls out there who are far smarter and more capable than me but, simply because they were born into different circumstances, they have never been given the same opportunities.

Here in Bali, some children miss out on school because their families simply cannot afford the fees. Instead of learning, playing and discovering who they are, they may need to work from a young age just to help their families survive.

Education gives children choices - It teaches them to read and write, helps them build friendships and confidence, and gives them the chance to imagine a future beyond their current circumstances.

It is one of the most powerful ways to break the cycle of poverty, and every child deserves that chance.

It costs approximately AU$300 to cover one child’s school fees for an entire year. My birthday wish is to send as many children to school as possible, so this month I will be partnering with @riceforbali_official where all donations raised will go directly to Children’s education

any donation, big or small, would mean so much to me. It could help give a child an entire year to learn, grow, play and dream about a brighter future.

On Sunday we made the journey up to north Bali to meet and surprise our families with the news that they will be receiving a new home

THANK-YOU so so much to everyone who donated and made it possible to meet our goal and make dreams to come true

This trip was a feeling I will never forget - lots of happy tears and many emotions as we saw their current houses and got to deliver the life-changing news.

The first family, was a family of 6 sleeping on two single mattress - the sweetest most lovely people will now have a 3-bedroom home thanks to everyone’s donations.

The second recipient was a blind elderly lady, who was sleeping on the floor of a tiny bamboo hut. When she found out she was getting a home, she told us she had never slept in one before 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Can you imagine being in your 90s and never having a place to call home, never having that sense of comfort or safety..

I can’t thank everyone enough for your donations and sharing the fundraiser, this has truly been the most humbling and heartwarming experience.

I feel incredibly lucky to have called Bali home for the past 4 years. I never take for granted the privilege of living here, or the fact that I’m a guest on such a beautiful island. But what truly makes Bali special isn’t just the scenery - it’s the people.

Balinese people are the kindest, most warm and welcoming souls I’ve ever met. I can be having the worst day, riding my bike down the street, and then I’ll pass a Balinese man or woman who will just look at me and give me the biggest, most genuine full-face smile - and honestly it just lights up my whole day.

I always want to do more for these people, and it never feels quite enough. It’s hard to see such kind-hearted people being taken advantage of, and the gap between locals and Westerners can be confronting.

Recently, I connected with Anggie, the founder of Rice for Bali, and after seeing her work firsthand, I can genuinely say she’s a real-life angel. You can see all of her amazing work at @riceforbali_official - Now, Sofie and I are partnering with Rice for Bali to build homes for families in need.
