(2/2) Bringing The Living Divide costumes to life was a hands-on, multi-step process. From sketch to “screen”, I went through numerous rounds of prototyping to perfect the look and feel of each outfit. I conducted numerous case studies from films in which inspired me to reflect each characters story through their costume designs, which largely helped me throughout this process.

This process included:
- Sewing the entirety of both characters’ outfits
- Hand-painting textures to capture the raw, post-apocalyptic vibe.
- Designing in Gravity Sketch for precise 3D models.
- 3D printing custom elements for unique finishing touches.
- Assembling a hand-made chainmail vest to complete the rebel aesthetic.

Every step was an opportunity to test, refine, and innovate, ensuring the costumes reflect the challenging need of survival in their world.

(1/2) This semester-long project challenged me to design costumes for The Living Divide, a gripping post-apocalyptic film concept developed by myself through weeks of research and ideations. Collaborating with the legendary Colie Wertz, I explored a world shaped by zombies, survival, conflict, and contrasting ideologies.
The film’s concept led me to take on the ambitious task of designing two fully geared outfits for the story’s central factions: the government officials and the rebel nomads. From the officials’ symbolism of facism and power and to the rebels’ embodiment of resilience and defiance, each design tells a story of humanity’s adaptation to the newly apocalyptic world.
Through extensive research, I imagined how humans would react, survive, and manufacture resources in this setting, bringing the characters and their world to life with every detail.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to join 19 other rising designers to present my work at the Gravity Sketch Around Festival.

I recently completed the Gravity Sketch Ambassador program where the team led us in virtual classes, teaching us the ins and outs of 3-D modeling shoe designs and more through VR. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed applying this new software into my school projects, and I’m excited to continue doing so in my future design work.

I want to thank the @gravitysketch team for giving me this opportunity and introducing me to this innovative software that lets me explore my design concepts in a new form. I am eager to see where this program grows in the future and am excited to apply these new skills of 3D modeling in my upcoming work! by @cydneyputnam_id

Spent the last two weeks working with professional skateboarder @brycewettstein to create a custom pair of converse for her! Bryce’s personality and style gave us a ton of opportunity for fun details. In the end I decided to keep a good amount of space on the shoe for her to draw on, like she commonly does to her shoes today 🌸🌞🛹 by @cydneyputnam_id
