Yesterday my grandfather would have turned 101.He didn’t make it.The grandchildren had promised each other we’d get together in his name. A dinner, a toast, all of us in one room.It didn’t happen.And that’s the thing that keeps me up. The moments that matter most ask the most of us when we have the least to give. Birthdays, funerals, weddings: the anchors that pull us back to each other across cities, across schedules, across years. We need them more than we admit.But coordinating them. Who’s coming.
