Sweet boxer mix Ronda has been overlooked at the West LA shelter for over 365 days! Now this adorable long timer is alerted URGENT and is at risk of being killed.

Ronda arrived at the shelter as a stray in May 2025 and was understandably nervous. She pancaked in the walkways and hid in her cubby. She was overlooked for being afraid!

The longer her stay, the more stressed she became. Her kennel presence started to deteriorate.

The great news: like with so many dogs, Ronda’s miracle happens once she steps outside the shelter. In the real world, Ronda is a JOY!

This 50-pound beauty with an adorable wiggle bunny butt and goofygirl underbite is whip smart and she LOVES to learn. She comes with skills and ready to master new ones. With a dedicated handler and a bit of structure, she gains confidence so fast and has no trouble gracefully navigating her world. Her best trait: Ronda is a LOVER! ❤️🐞🐞❤️

Ronda feels four-years-old to us, but the shelter guessed her a bit older.

My neighbor @cynmoore is desperately trying to help this dog, Bella, and the young woman who first rescued Bella as a stray.

💕 Bella is a young beautiful brindle Shepherd mix who is loving and affectionate but urgently needs a safe place to land. Good with dogs, cats and kids!

The young woman who found her as a stray can no longer keep her and her family is not willing to wait. We don’t want this beautiful girl to end up in a shelter or as a stray. Basic vet care and spay will be covered! In good health.

HAPPIEST DOG AWARD! 🏅Venus (fka Ven from the West LA Shelter) is all love! Her smile is self charging. Her tail is in perpetual helicopter mode. Her spirit radiates optimism. This, despite having been hit by a car and dragged before being dumped at the shelter. Venus was saved by a rescue in her final moments. I unexpectedly needed to assume responsibility for her boarding, training, and vet care back in January 2025 during the tragic LA fires. This precious girl has been quietly boarding with my talented trainer ever since!

The amazing team @calanimalrehab has been integral not only to Venus’ physical recovery but to her socialization and her enrichment. I’m so grateful to Dr. Jessica Waldman @jhwaldman Dr. Justine Ma @drjustinema and to their loving and talented team for getting this little wonky walker back on her feet! 🙏🏻

Venus is so ready for her own dedicated, loving home. 50 pounds, around three years old, she’s trained and non-reactive to other dogs on leash. Her heel and place commands are tight! Happy in the crate and car. 🚙 Treat motivated, so she’s super easy on leash. Venus requires very little. She needs to hear the soft hum of a real home — a background TV, family phone calls, the music of dishes and friendly voices, and, most of all, she needs the touch of a caring, loving human. She’d like a nice dog bed, too. ; ) Ven needs to put a past of neglect and then the sterility of shelter and kennel life in the rear view. Please join me as I dream of seeing this precious girl take her final, strong (if slightly wobbly) steps toward her amazing human and forever home. ✨

Venus is a quintessential pittie. Her sweetness knows no bounds. She never gives up hope. She never stops smiling. And she never stops loving. Please share widely and help Venus come home. ❤️

Munchkin has left the building!🤘❗❤️
After being at East Valley shelter and then transferred to West LA shelter, he is now going to get the stellar medical care he deserves. We already have appointments at ASEC and Ocuvet.
We can't wait to update you on his progress, and we'll reveal his new name. This wild child deserves a new identity for a bright new future ❗🐾 🐾

🚨 HAIL MARY FOR COCHECK 🚨

Cocheck is scheduled to be euthanized today.

Unless an adopter, foster, or rescue steps forward today, his life will end.

He’s barely over a year old. A big, goofy black bully breed who never got the chance to learn what a good life looks like.

From what we’ve been told, he came from a situation where he was failed by the humans who were supposed to protect and guide him. One terrible incident now threatens to define his entire life.

But that’s not the whole story.

The volunteers who know Cocheck describe him as sweet, playful, affectionate, toy-obsessed, eager to please, and social with other dogs in playgroups. He loves attention, loves being with his people, and has shown everyone willing to spend time with him that there is so much more to him than the circumstances that brought him here.

He isn’t the right dog for every home. He needs an experienced, committed adopter or rescue willing to give him structure, guidance, and the chance he’s never had.

Time has run out.

Say HELLO to our newest crush 😍 who we just rescued from the West LA Animal Shelter - Diamond Crusher 💙 This 14 year old sweetheart ended up at the shelter after his owner became ill and was hospitalized. He spent nearly two months hoping a family member or friend would come for him 😢

So when he became available and one of our committed fosters says they would love to open their heart and home to him we of course said yes! 😁 Thank you @yasdnil29 for being his transport and foster angel 😇 And to the amazing volunteers @pupsofwlashelter @westlasheltervolunteers

There is something profoundly special about the resilience of a rescue dog like Asher ~ leaving the uncertainty of the streets behind in 2025 and walking into 2026 with his head held high.✨️
Here is a toast to his journey:
🥂 TO ASHER'S NEW CHAPTER:
• Reflecting on 2025: This was the year of safety. It was the year the cold nights ended and he realized that hands could be gentle and food would be plentiful. That alone is a massive victory.
• Manifesting for 2026: This will be the year of belonging. May the right person walk through the door, look into Asher's eyes, and realize he is the missing piece of their puzzle.

🐾 TO ALL THE WAITING HEARTS:
May every homeless dog currently waiting for their "gotcha day" find soft beds, full bowls, and endless ear scratches in this new year.

Meet Asher — the sweetest captain who’s ever sailed into your heart.

Life started on some rocky waters for this beautiful, 2-year-old, 47lb pittie mix, but Asher has taken every wave with grace, gratitude, and that irresistible Asher smile. And now? He’s ready to steer his little boat toward a forever home.

Asher is as gorgeous as he is good. Truly. His house manners are impeccable! He doesn’t beg, doesn’t climb on furniture, and he absolutely adores his crate. He’ll even put himself to bed or take himself off for a quiet break, like the world’s most responsible roommate.

He’s got these adorable bursts of zoomies in the yard, tiny fireworks of joy we like to say, and then he’s back inside to chill, happy to relax near you without being clingy. He’ll hike for miles if you’re up for it, but he’s not hyper…just the perfect mix of adventure and easy living. A superstar sidekick through and through.

On leash, Asher truly shines for someone confident and present. He’s not an autopilot walker. He likes a handler who’s tuned in, someone willing to leave the phone at home and enjoy the moment with their beautiful dog. He’s incredibly responsive, eager to partner with you, and training support is available to make sure his new family understands the leash language he’s learned.

Asher has been gentle and wonderful with the neighborhood kids he’s met. With animals, he’s pretty neutral. He’s definitely non-reactive with dogs in his foster home under tight supervision, and reportedly calm around cats, but for everyone’s easiest, happiest life, Asher will thrive as an only dog. He deserves to be someone’s one and only!

And that photo of him in the boat? That’s exactly who he is. A dog who has weathered storms, found calm waters, and is ready to guide someone into the next beautiful chapter. The best little captain you could ever really ask for.
