Capturing the transformative moments before @orlandverdu transports a new audience into another world.

Getting to collaborate with such an incredible performer at Sol Obscura festival was amazing. This unscheduled, spontaneous shoot turned into one of my favourite photos sets from the summer. by @cyoungstudio

I approached this shoot knowing very little about Kia, yet her natural ease and strong sense of identity in front of the camera quickly set the pace for experimentation, spontaneity and a fast-moving creative exchange. taken in VILLA LENA Tuscany by @cyoungstudio

‘Kia Michelle Benbow (she/her) known professionally as Kia LaBeija , is an image maker and storyteller born and raised in the heart of New York City, Hell’s Kitchen.

Her multidisciplinary approach to art making includes photography, text, movement based performance, collage, installation and film. She composes cinematic and theatrical autobiographical and autofictional works by staging, re-imagining, sometimes documenting in real time, or all of the above.‘

SO excited to share this collaboration with the talented and wonderful performers of AEION Collective at Sol Obscura Festival ✨They were such a joy to work with and the results speak for themselves.

Thank you to Deif, @Bread_and_Tomato, for providing such gorgeous light installations and for your assistance on the shoot. As a long time admirer of your work, it was an exciting moment for me to do my thing and create art alongside your epic structures.
