WIP

Before the first note rings out, here’s a glimpse of the work in the bar below.

Trenches cut for new plumbing.
Cement poured to steady the floor.
Wiring run for the glow that will light the nights.
Drywall rising to shape the sound.

The kitchen, bar, and AV equipment are gathering pieces of a space finding its sound.

Paint, furniture, and décor come next.

The Downbeat is taking form, a rhythm and social club with a pulse growing stronger every day.

Stay tuned.

Be Down.

@cyruscoleman on why he celebrates sport in art -

“Sport is the theater of triumph. Where the body becomes a vessel for will, and each contest reflects our own struggle to rise. In my art, I celebrate those moments where effort transforms into transcendence.”

Peace, FAMILY -
Wale and Cyrus here,

It’s been a minute since our last update, and we’re excited to share what’s been happening with The Creative Homies.

We’ve been working incredibly hard to bring this project to life. As many of you know, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges. Despite the hurdles, we’re thrilled to share that we’ve officially secured financing to begin realizing our vision for The Horizon Enterprise Building.

We have started construction on our basement bar, The Downbeat! This is a major milestone that brings us significantly closer to generating revenue and fulfilling our vision for T.H.E. Building as a whole.

We’re also proud to announce that we’ve been awarded a $100K grant from the Prosper Portland Reimagine Oregon Economic Opportunity Fund. We’re deeply grateful for this support and encouraged by the belief others continue to show in our mission.

Through it all, we’ve stayed grounded in our commitment to this dream, and to all of you. We’ve poured in countless hours, made real sacrifices, and held onto our unwavering belief in what we’re building. Like many of you, we’re resilient.

Construction started today, August 11th! We are projected to open The Downbeat and The Black Note, our basement bar and speakeasy, in November 2025. Follow us on Instagram for behind-the-scenes progress and updates!

In the meantime, we’re actively seeking tenants for the upper two floors and are available for private event bookings on the first floor. If you or someone you know is interested, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your patience, for believing in us, and for continuing to be part of this journey.

With love and gratitude,
