Today was supposed to be the day my life changed forever.
January 3rd 2024, I was set to be travelling down south on a solo journey of discovery and adventure. By the time I upload this video I would’ve been in Costa Rica, soaking in the sun and having drinks on Jaco Beach.
But sadly, life decided to throw me a curveball and I’ve had to switch my focus onto my serious health diagnosis.
3 months ago I discovered that I had cancer.
Now before people become concerned, I just want you to know that I’m in peak physical condition, and I have no doubt that I will overcome this.
Luckily, the type of cancer I had was able to be removed by surgery and after extensive medical imaging, it was claimed that the surgery was successful and that the cancer had been removed.
Now this isn’t where my battle ends. Next week I will be starting my first round of chemotherapy, a process that should only take me 9 weeks. This process is necessary, as there still a chance cancer remains in my body and has the potential to poison my blood or spread to more areas of concern.
I’d like this to be a reminder that even though things seem great, there could be something wrong. I went to my doctor two years ago with concerns and he brushed me off because I was a “young and healthy” man. So if you feel something strange, make sure you insist on extensive research, as it could save your life.
Even though I’m likely to lose a lot of progress that I’ve attained over the past year, I won’t let this affect the progress I’ve made mentally. After receiving my cancer diagnosis, I really began to realize just how short and precious life really is. Even if you’re life isn’t as extravagant as you’d like it to be, you should cherish what you have, and strive to become more. For too long I’ve sat in the shadows being ashamed of who I am and neglectful of what I could become. Even though I’m about to go through my hardest battle yet, after I’ve won, I’m sure I’ll be greater than who I am today. I can’t wait until the day comes where I can get back on the grind, and get the opportunity to fulfill my dreams of travel and adventure.
