Headed north again this weekend for the September harvest full moon. Daytime conditions were less than ideal with high blue skies and hardly any wind. Decided to take a mid day snooze in the boat so that I could have the energy to fish well into the night Saturday.. good choice!

While doing a night time troll with absolute killer tunes for the entire evening it was around 10:30pm when the reel absolutely exploded with this whale 🐋! The 12” cisco rattle minnow was on the menu!

All the pictures are from the 30 second video. There was no actual photo shoot with her because night time pictures are impossible. Just a quick video and back in the water to be caught another day!

Incredible weekend up north and an enjoyable drive home with a nice fish under the belt!

Longgg day Saturday. Moved a small fish my first spot of the morning then that was it until 7pm. and then the worst thing happened. Had a giant fish maybe 50” come in hot on my new purple blades and did a circle and a half with me in the 8. Either my figure 8 wasn’t wide enough to turn her or my radio that was on very quietly scared her away. Either way it was heart breaking. I stayed for another 3 drift to try and get her to come back but she disappeared.

Tucked my tail between my legs and started the troll back to the launch.

I circled an island point I’ve caught a 44” fish on a few years ago and wouldn’t you know it the reel screams out almost sounding like bottom. I was graced with this beautiful high 40’s fish that ate my 12”cisco rattle minnow! Chalk that up as another high 40’s Kawartha musky to eat my 12” minnow!

Man the highs and lows of musky fishing can be hard on a guy but did it ever work out in the end on this day! That being said it could have been one of my best fishing days of my life if I landed that fish not long before this one.

Another big fish in the bag on my own creations! This time Cisco double 9’s were on the menu!

After 4 water bodies and a bunch of interactions with fish that wouldn’t fully commit it was nice to finally stick a dandy fish on the last lake and the third last spot of the evening!

Watched her eat about 30 ft away from the boat and man did she want them blades!

There’s a big September full moon on the rise 🎵

Pretty little tyke attacking the DC Baits blades while burning them dirty shallow.

Shallow was definitely where I saw the most fish this weekend but really nothing of great size.

Friday night the fish were completely turned on catching one small musky on my topwater rodent and missed 3/4 other blow up.. and found a rock pile that a pair of bass (who never miss) smashed the topwater as well lol.

Unfortunately I couldn’t stay out late because I had a buddy coming out in the morning so I knew I had to be up early. Trolling home popped another small musky on the 12” rattle minnow.

Saturday was an absolute grind after how active the fish were Friday night in the dark. @connor.wilson66 and I casted and trolled tons of spots even switched lakes 3 times in hopes to find some active fish.

Luckily last spot of the night on lake 2 I made it happen with this warrior of a fish. Big old head on her!

Took some time off from everything and all things musky related.. terrible at responding to DMs and texts. Sorry for that but such is life.. still slowly tying lures but my real job requires far more from me now than before. Anyway.. shout out to @rdawally and @chillinwithbreezy for convincing me to take a day to fish. Buzzer-beater musky up shallow just off of moon.. was rotating thru baits all day and Damian’s @d.c_baits double 10’s got bit in the end. Shout ouuut @muskiesontap / @sugsfishing for the lucky hoodie (2 for 2 skis in it so far) and @vincentbutoutdoors for the lucky hat 😎🤙 you guys are awesome.

Not the monster I came for but happy to of put one on the board this weekend on my French river adventure. But this fish was actually caught on Nippising while out there exploring. This fish ate the 12” Cisco rattle minnow!

Cant complain on the long weekend, had 1 interaction each day just couldn’t get them to commit. Did a lot of studying and auto charting while dropping countless pins for my next trip up!
