It’s nice to “meet you” 🤝

My name is Jayson. I am a Veteran turned independent insurance broker, and my mission is simple: help medical professionals protect the income they worked years to earn.

I hope in these slides you see how much physicians changed my life and why I feel a deep responsibility to help those who help everyone else.

It can feel overwhelming with all of the options for protection, so I’m here to help simplify it for you, and advocate to get you the best offer.

Whether you’re a resident, fellow, or attending, there’s options for you.

I know your schedule is demanding, and unpredictable, but my inbox is always open, and I’m looking forward to connecting when you’re ready to learn more.

Your first contract is not just an offer. It’s a starting point and the terms you accept (or don’t negotiate) can follow you for years. Non-competes, call schedules, RVU structures, partnership tracks. These deserve a careful, independent review before you sign.

Estate planning isn’t for later. The moment your income changes significantly, so does the need for updated beneficiaries, documents, and a plan. Residents often defer this, and that gap in coverage is real.

W-2 employment vs. private practice is not just a lifestyle question. It shapes your tax situation, your benefits, your exposure to overhead, and your long-term flexibility. Neither path is right for everyone and understanding the tradeoffs early helps you ask the right questions when it matters most.

If you’re finishing residency or know someone who is I’d encourage you to get that contract reviewed and get your documents in order before day one. by @d.i.jay

We had the privilege of sitting down with Internal Medicine residents at Yale this week.

The conversation kept circling back to one idea: medicine is a career, but it’s also a business decision. And most residency training doesn’t teach the business part.

The income question is more nuanced than people think. Concierge and direct primary care can offer more revenue predictability than traditional employment but the path there involves real startup risk, patient panel timing, and a break-even horizon that varies widely.

Autonomy has a price tag and a payoff. Residents are weighing the cost of early-stage practice ownership against the long-term flexibility it creates. That’s a sophisticated trade-off for someone still in training. by @d.i.jay

Your disability carrier going out of business is a scary thought, but your contract has a “secret weapon.” ⚔️

It’s called Non-Can/GR.
1️⃣ They can’t fire you.
2️⃣ They can’t raise your rates.
3️⃣ They HAVE to pay out, even if they close their doors to new business.

Don’t let the headlines stress you out. Check your policy language today! 📜

I sat down with the Chief Resident of Anesthesia to talk about what new doctors should really be looking for: a supportive workplace, how to manage the stress that comes with the role, and what it actually takes to navigate scheduling as a new physician. by @d.i.jay

In this interview, an ER physician shares his perspective on disability insurance why he believes it’s worth understanding during residency and what he learned along the way.

This is one physician’s experience and opinion, shared for educational purposes. Insurance needs vary significantly based on your specialty, health history, financial situation, and goals. by @d.i.jay

Spent time this week with a group of Internal Medicine residents in California thinking through what private practice actually looks like.

A few themes that kept coming up:
“When is the right time to make the jump?”
“How do I know if I can actually afford to leave a salary?”
“What does the ramp up period really look like financially?”

These aren’t questions that get answered in residency. And waiting until you’re out to start thinking about them can cost you in time, in decisions made reactively, and in opportunities missed.

Private practice including concierge and direct primary care models is very much alive among IM physicians. But the financial preparation behind it matters as much as the clinical decision.

If you’re a resident or fellow thinking about what comes next, I’d encourage you to start asking the money questions now not later. by @d.i.jay

Today I sat down with a room full of Internal Medicine residents to talk about one of the biggest financial decisions they’ll ever face: 🏥 Buy an existing concierge practice or build one from scratch? by @d.i.jay

A gift to your 80-year-old self (and your kids). 🎁

We spend our 40s grinding for the future, but have you protected it yet? Long-term care insurance is one thing you want to buy when you don’t need it.

If you wait until you “feel” old enough to need it, the insurance companies might have already swiped left on your medical history. 🙅‍♂️

The Sweet Spot: 45–55.

The Benefit: Peace of mind and a protected legacy.

Stop scrolling and start planning. Your future self is cheering you on!

You protected your patients on Day 1. Did you forget to protect the person behind the mask? 🏥

When you started residency, malpractice insurance was a non-negotiable. You wouldn’t see a single patient without it.

But for many, it takes 5+ years to realize that your most valuable asset isn’t just your license—it’s your ability to earn. Malpractice insurance protects your patients and your practice. Disability insurance protects you and your family’s future.

If you’ve spent years honing your craft, it’s time to ensure that your income is as secure as your reputation.

The “Big 3” of Income Protection. 🛡️

Crushing the myths and getting straight to the facts.

If your policy is missing one of these three riders, you might have a gap in your coverage you didn’t plan for.

Is your workplace disability coverage enough? 🤔

Many professionals assume they are fully covered, but group plans often have:
❌ Caps on monthly benefits
❌ Taxable payouts
❌ Short “Own Occ” definitions (usually 24 months)

Knowing the gaps allows you to make informed decisions for your future. Have you audited your benefits lately?
