What a day…chatting to the most wonderful @d0m_sm1th of @soundspheremag ✨

Where do we even start!?

Dom wears way more hats than we could squeeze into one post!

From championing local and international creatives and musicians across the North through @soundspheremag, to working in mental health counselling - with stories and connections stretching from Hull to Chicago to worldwide. From @bizarrefae to Placebo to the WWE.

SOMEHOW, he still finds time to rock out on drums in his band, @strangepinkband

Underneath all those hats is a proper good belief in people - in giving Northern creatives a platform, making your own opportunities and using “you can’t” as a big motivator to "just f*ck it, do it anyway."

We chatted Hull.
Graft.
Resilience.
Creativity.
And the origins of Soundsphere.

There’s far too much goodness for one post.

👀much more coming soon 👀 by @d0m_sm1th

What a great joy to be featured by the BBC alongside my friends, plugging our new film!!

If this is the first you've heard about it, do get involved if you can!! It's made by neurodivergent people, it's got Cupid, War and Death (and some nudity, if that's your thing) in it, and is set in the North of England, in locations like @thebrainjar with acclaimed performers including @lh15mm (The Human Centipede 2, 3) set to star!

We need your support! @greenlitfund

Thank you to @bbcyorkshire and @sebcheer for the love, and @yorkshirefilmcritic for helping us connect some dots!

Thank you to everyone who made my first @humberstreetsesh as a performer so special, from those who turned up to watch @strangepinkband, to the bands, and those I saw around and about. Much love, you make the highs and the lows all worthwhile.

Cheers to @markpagesesh, @skintnortherner and @rose_e_barker for believing in the band. Thanks to @desumilk for bringing the love and dragging along the @handh_agency team as well 😃, cheers to @twisted.nipple.events for shouting us out all the time and to @angry_scottish_man2.0, @phatphotohull, @electric_eye.photography, @philyb1, @scaleraker.hardcore, @fsr_fsr_fsr, @thehazyjanes, @thedyrsister @martin_avenues_brewery, @cringe_bob_wallis, @bonnevilletheband, @roswareham, @adamdavidish, @johnanguish, @missrosewood.cheryl, @the_laurasaur, @toni1234211, @victoriasmith.uk @saz_ock, @someblondedog, @bizarrefae, @xlucytessx, @jerichokeys, @slazenby1986, @sleuth_gang, @richirontooth, @budheron, @_pxgx, @jeffijess, @brewerrewerb, @bethpillingsolo @brodiemilnermusic, @seb_chapo, @aimeefatale, @thelunardivide and everyone else who took time out of their day to hang out and say hello. It was such a joy! Nice to see my man, @kofi_smiles earlier in the day too!

I got to see some killer sets from old friends, and new - @wearestillaband, @wearemaftin, @w3nchband, @femurband_, @blitzerband @@picktheflowers, @evil.will.prevail and my dudes in @sickcino and @rothcoofficial.

Thank you to my backline tech and personal MUSCLE, @nr151095 for his help and support through the day, and to the team at @itslsoundlight for their help with our set and through the whole day.

You gotta understand, I was actively told this type of thing wasn’t going to be possible for me, and so to perform here, and to connect with so many wonderful people is just….well, I can’t describe it really.

Lastly, thank you to @samforrestsound and @ed.ache for being exceptional musicians and making me cool enough (by association) to finally get this gig 😅🤘🏻❤️

Big love, forever.

Remember when Billy Corgan spoke with Soundsphere about his success in both the wrestling world with NWA, and in music with Smashing Pumpkins?! 🤘🏻

Yesterday was almost like being back in a hardcore band! @strangepinkband played @hull_rat_fest, and I got to see some old friends from my days in @theparasitictwins, including members of @ratter.1312 and @concreteships! That house show in Lincoln we did for @throatpunch_uk with @victimunit is one of my absolute favourite gig memories! 🤘🏻

Anyway! It was a pleasure to open up the proceedings. Thanks to @chris.marsay of @scaleraker.hardcore and @runt.band for having us. Cheers to @samforrestsound and @ed.ache for bringing the rock!

@aloft_at_the_haworth is a cool space too. It has air conditioning! I did fall back off the stage though while playing! 😬🤣 still, would definitely do something there again!

Cheers to @anthony.neylon.5, @seb_chapo, @fsr_fsr_fsr, @angry_scottish_man2.0, Emma, @nr151095 and everyone else who was down super early to watch us. Respect to @jackgallagher17 and @manwhoam on’t doors, and helping to organise! Big love to @bobmancat for the sound and support. Always lovely to see @lydia_new2025 too!

Strange Pink has some new material coming out before the end of this year. As ever, we appreciate all the love and good vibes everyone has gifted to us. Playing can be painful, and stressful, plus getting together can be hard because…y’know, life (I think every band gets that one), but I really enjoy making noise with, and for good people. 🤘🏻

Big love, forever.

I have all the respect in the world for @dastmalchian and his work.

I love the work that I do, and I am so glad it resonates with people. It’s an honour to tell stories, and share them. Some days can be harder than others as we all know, and so these words really mean something. I appreciate everyone who supports me, more than I can put into words.

Anyway, if you are interested, there’s a new interview we did for @soundspheremag out now. Check it out. I’ll post a link in the comments! Also, if you’ve not seen it yet, check out David’s wonderful work with @goodfiendofficial and @graveconversationsshow! I say it during the chat, but I think GC is the best concept for a show on YouTube! Also, he has some awesome comic books out, which we discuss!

You can see David in @onepiecenetflix now, and @streetfightermovie later this year! 🤘🏻🖤

For those interested, we have an interview with @therock about @thesmashingmachinemovie over at @soundspheremag. Link is at the website in my bio, and the comments!

When I started this project many years ago, I never dreamed we would be able to work with these artists and creatives across film, games and TV - everyone from @jlo, @nicolekidman, @oscarisaac, @dastmalchian (thanks @goodfiendofficial), @damien_leone, @bakingjason Ewan McGregor and many more wonderful talents have now featured across @screensphere and Soundsphere.

Of course we have the sports entertainment and music stuff too and I have had the honour of working with most of my favourite musicians and wrestlers, but this is just an example of how lucky I have been to have the support of so many people with an idea to expand and grow into a different world!

Thank you to @slh2346 and the entire team for getting behind us. It's awesome! Cheers to you all, for everything.
