Berliner Trümmerberge – Vom Schutt zur Form

Wie aus den Trümmern des zerstörten Berlins nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg künstliche Berg- und Parklandschaften entstanden, zeigt die Ausstellung „Berliner Trümmerberge – Vom Schutt zur Form“.

Sie erzählt von der Enttrümmerung der Stadt und Wiederaufbau bis zur Planung, Errichtung und Bepflanzung der Trümmerberge. Beleuchtet werden auch die unterschiedlichen Aufbaukonzepte, die Ost- und West-Berlin ab 1949 einschlugen bis 1946 galt noch der gesamtstädtisch gedachte Kollektivplan. Historische Fotografien, Pläne, Fundstücke und botanische Zeugnisse zeigen, wie aus einem Drittel der rund 75 Millionen Kubikmeter Kriegsschutt, die in Berlin anfielen, allmählich eine neue Landschaft entstand – bepflanzt, begrünt und als Erholungsort angeeignet. Zugleich bewahren die Berliner Trümmerberge bis heute Spuren der Zerstörung.

Berlin Rubble Mountains – From Debris to Form

The exhibition "Berliner Trümmerberge – Vom Schutt zur Form" explores how the rubble of Berlin, destroyed during the Second World War, was transformed into artificial hills and park landscapes.

It traces the process from clearing and rebuilding the city to the planning, construction, and planting of the rubble mountains. It also looks at the different approaches to rebuilding adopted by East and West Berlin from 1949 onwards. Until 1946, the city was still guided by the idea of the Kollektivplan, a plan conceived for Berlin as a whole.

Historical photographs, plans, found objects, and botanical evidence show how around one third of the approximately 75 million cubic metres of war rubble generated in Berlin gradually became a new landscape, planted, greened, and transformed into places for recreation. At the same time, Berlin’s rubble mountains continue to preserve traces of the destruction to this day.

Zu Anfang dieses Jahrtausends hat TIUS bereits wichtige Auszeichnungen, wie die des Designwettbewerbes CNC/conForm (2001), den AIT Innovationspreis (2002) und die Anerkennung beim Industriedesignpreis Schleswig-Holstein (2003/2004) erhalten. 2004 wurde TIUS für den Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland nominiert.

Die Möglichkeit, die TIUS-Systeme „indice“ und „lettura“ miteinander zu verbinden, belegt einmal mehr die Einzigartigkeit und Variabilität dieses Schrank-Regal-Systems. Problemlos und im besten Sinne einfach erfolgt auch die kombinierte Montage von TIUS „indice“ (350 mm Ordnertiefe) und „lettura“ (220 mm Buchtiefe). Ein Zusammenbau sowohl neben- als auch übereinander ist möglich. Für die problemlose Vereinigung an der Schnittstelle zwischen den Systemen sorgt ein speziell für diesen Zweck entwickelter Kombinationsboden.
