This is Cinque Terre — five colorful villages clinging to the Italian Riviera, and one of those places that somehow looks unreal even when you’re standing right in front of it.
We spent the day exploring the villages, taking in the coastal views, and figuring out what was actually worth our time.

We thought we were just wandering through Siena. Then this happened. 🇮🇹
Siena is divided into 17 historic contrade, or districts, each with its own identity and traditions. During our June 13 visit, the Contrada della Tartuca was celebrating the feast of St. Anthony of Padua — and we happened to walk right into it.

Lunch at Fattoria Poggio Alloro, an agriturismo in the Tuscan countryside, turned out to be one of our favorite stops of the day. 🇮🇹
We stopped here for a long midday lunch after Siena and before heading on to San Gimignano — exactly the kind of slower travel moment that ended up sticking with us.

Fall travel doesn’t have to mean chasing the same New England leaf-peeping itinerary. 🍂

100 mph. Over a canyon. In a chair. 😳
The TERROR-dactyl Canyon Swing at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park is basically a seated thrill ride suspended over Williams Canyon in Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Riders launch from the edge of a 200-foot cliff, drop about 150 feet into the canyon, and can reach speeds near 100 mph.
Those two people flying through the canyon? My kids.
I contributed by standing somewhere significantly less airborne and filming. 😂 Follow D5TravelTribe for more adrenaline-fueled travel.

Some trips are about where you go. This one was about who came with me. 💕
Thirty years ago, we met in grad school at UWF. This weekend, we came back to Pensacola—older, allegedly wiser, and still perfectly capable of skipping down the beach, popping champagne, and making questionable decisions involving Jell-O shots. 😂
And that’s one of my favorite things about travel: it gives us a reason to step away from everyday life and make room for the people we’ve collected along the way.
Pensacola Beach gave us gorgeous water, rooftop drinks, great food, a festival to wander, and plenty of reasons to stay outside until the sun went down.
Consider this your sign: text the friends. Pick the place. Take the trip. ✈️

We checked into one of America’s quirkiest hotels… and couldn’t stop looking around. 👀
The Driftwood Resort in Vero Beach, Florida, is anything but ordinary. Created by eccentric Florida entrepreneur Waldo Sexton, the property is packed with unusual art, antiques and artifacts collected from near and far—and seemingly every corner has something you didn’t expect to find at a beach resort.
Even the buildings have a story, incorporating weathered timbers and materials salvaged from the coast.
We spent almost as much time exploring the property as we did enjoying the ocean. 😂
