Amuse is terug! Van 5 tot en met 14 juni presenteert Galerie Wilms werk van circa zestig kunstenaars. Verwacht nieuwe deelnemers, gloednieuw werk en een bomvol programma.

Alle kunstwerken zijn geprijsd voor €350, met enkele uitzonderingen voor een lijst.

🔴 Geen paniek, de werken worden niet vooraf verkocht. Ben je er op tijd bij, dan kan die voor jou zijn!

There I was, lying on the cold floor of my studio. Fortunately, warm rays of sunlight streamed through the skylight, softening the experience. The fading pink rose made me think of impermanence. How easily we sometimes forget to dwell on the present. Now I feel free; let it be what it is. My body may wither just as well, while at the same time realizing that what is here right now, is more than enough

‘BUBBLEGUM TUMOR’
In 2023, I met Sandra on a terrace in Utrecht. As we shared our stories, she spoke candidly about her journey with breast cancer. What struck me was her no-nonsense “let’s do this” mentality and her frustration with the ‘velvet glove’ approach of the medical world. She was done with the one-dimensional image of the “pitiful survivor.”

Together, we decided to capture her story in a different way. Raw, aesthetic, and with a healthy dose of dark humor. No medical pity, but a visual protest against paternalism.
This project, BUBBLEGUM TUMOR, is still in motion, mirroring Sandra’s own ongoing process. We use surreal metaphors to capture the absurdity of the trajectory: from melting ice cream to tumors made of bubblegum. Because you get to define your own narrative. Always.

Daantje Goes Gynaecongres!

het werk van Daantje geeft dit jaar aanleiding tot andere gesprekken op ons landelijke gynaecongres.
Wat zouden haar foto’s mooi tot hun recht komen in een gynaecologie wachtkamer. Op een plek waar vrouwen soms kwetsbaarheid en spanning ervaren, kunnen deze beelden kracht, trots en herkenning oproepen. Iedereen heeft een blootje. Daantjes kunst nodigt uit tot openheid en normaliseren van lichamelijke thema’s. Je laat als afdeling zien dat er aandacht is voor hedendaagse cultuur en beleving van de patiënten. Wellicht verlaagt het voor patiënten de drempel om in de spreekkamer het gesprek aan te gaan. De deur wordt door Daantje al op een kier gezet.
Daar gaan we het over hebben!
