Dear Dooda, my older brother💙👼🏽

I love you more than life itself. My blood sibling.
Today, you were laid to rest by your village—your family and friends. I have cried for hours every day, and I still am. I’ve never felt this kind of pain before. Losing someone is hard, but losing my brother? My heart is shattered🥺!!! No amount of tears could ever measure the love you gave.
As all of New Orleans was searching for you, God called your soul home to rest in Heaven. Accepting this pain feels impossible right now, and I know it will take time to fully understand that this is my reality. Wading in the water, your soul was finally freed from the negative thoughts you had to endure for so long.
No mental illness could ever take away who you truly were—a genius, smart, loyal, outgoing, caring, and so much more. I didn’t know that our last hug around Thanksgiving would be my last. You had just told me how amazing my nails were and how you couldn’t wait to see my next set. I will cherish all of our memories since babies.
I pray for strength every hour of the day. You were so young—this isn’t fair. It still feels unbelievable, but I trust that God doesn’t make mistakes. Now I have my own angel walking with me😇. You no longer have to suffer or feel any pain.
You had big, big dreams, and your sister will fulfill them for you. I know you’ll be with us every step of the way. I love you endlessly.
