The yard has always been a studio. 🎬

Busted.
Written by Brandolyn Love.
Directed by Douglas Martin.

Early 2000s. Both of them. On the yard. Right next to you in class. Before YouTube. Before TikTok. Before content creation was a career. HBCU students were already writing scripts, casting classmates, and directing original productions on campus.

HBCUs have always been ecosystems. The writer sitting next to you in English Lit. The director in your study group. The producer in the dining hall. The best and brightest weren't somewhere else waiting to be discovered they were already there, already building, already creating on campuses across this nation.

We go to school with greatness and sometimes don't recognize it until the credits roll years later.

Brandolyn Love put the words on the page. Douglas Martin brought the vision to life. The yard made it possible in 2004.

That ecosystem never left. It's on every campus right now.

Who on your yard is building something the world needs to see? 🏛️

A little late on the post, but that doesn’t matter. Made a couple movies last year. Went to New York City. Spent some much needed time with family and Ramily. Lost a good friend of mine. Kept my head high and smile through the year. 🤟🏾#2025 by @dabigbody

As I end my trip to Detroit, I want to acknowledge my family here for their support and company. They made sure I had all I needed, and it was great to be with them. Until next time! (Apologies for the lack of haircut; I've been working.) by @dabigbody
