When I was 18 one of my buddies got us invited to join search and rescue for a snow school on the saddle of Mt Arrowsmith. It was a very informative day. When it ended a few of us went further up the mountain over the bumps and stopped at the nose (which is the crux of that route) Shortly after we came back and started earlier in the day and summited. We came back again the following weekend to camp and were greeted with a heavy snow storm that put us and our summer equipment in our place. It was quite possibly the coldest I've ever been. After learning that lesson I spent a small fortune for me on proper gear. We came back again for some winter camping. My tent was covered in so much snow that from the outside it just looked like a bump. I was toasty warm in my new gear. For years after I had so many memorable trips with so many different buddies. This weekend I was fortunate enough to have beautiful weather for a sleepover on the summit of Mt Cokely. Having time to stare at the mountain in all the different lighting and have so many memories dancing through my mind was marvelous. I had the mountain all to myself (and Surrey) for most of the evening and then my food buddy Martin joined me just after sunset. Thank you mountain gods that was just what I needed right now. by @daddymcdancypants
