Back in August we reached out asking for designs from our youth patrons for our brand new youth cards. You had some outstanding submissions, and now that the cards have arrived, we are excited to announce our winner!

Norah Barden, a 7th Grader from Dadeville High School submitted this design featuring a fantasy theme. We were blown away by its detail. Her design will be featured both on the main card and the secondary keychain attachment that comes with it.

Any youth under the age of 18 will be able to acquire one of these cards with their parent’s approval. Parents will also be able to select the access for their child’s card, whether that be youth only departments or full library access.

For now this card will be made available specifically to our youth patrons. We hope you will help us in congratulating Norah on this amazing piece of art!

Libby is updating! If you know your four passcode, please enter it when prompted, and continue reading like normal. If not, here is what to do.

If you need help finding out your four digit passcode that was set up with your library card access, feel free to call or visit the library during regular business hours. We will be happy to assist you in pulling up your access.

If you have not yet gained access to our Libby catalog for audiobooks and ebooks, we can set that up for you as well.

We know how important your access is, and we will get you online as quickly as possible.

On Friday October 30th, Dadeville Public Library will be hosting a trick or treat at the library. We will have tent booths set up in the parking lot from 5:00pm-7:00pm with several local groups handing out candy and treats. This time will coincide with the city’s designated trick or treat time for the same day. We can’t wait to see you all!

There will also be a photo set up in front of the main doors for you to get a picture in your costumes.

If you would like to come set up with us, please feel free to reach out to our programs coordinator, Patrick Yim at pyim@dadeville.org, and they will be able to check the current space availability.

As always, this event is free to attend. Costumes are also encouraged! taken in Dadeville Public Library by @dadevillelibrary

October 18th-24th is national Friends of the Library week. The D-FOL is responsible for raising funds that help better the library throughout the entire year. From summer reading programs to author presentations, our events come solely from their help. We could not do any of the things we do without them.

So if you see a friend, thank them, and let them know how important the amazing work they do is for Dadeville and this library.

If you or the business you work for would like to become a friend, please reach out. We would love to get you more information. Whether it is your $20 yearly membership, supporting the cost of an entire program, or even just volunteering your time, every little bit is important.

Thank you to each and every one of our Friends! taken in Dadeville Public Library by @dadevillelibrary

We hope everyone is staying weather aware. In light of Hurricane Isaias heading our way, we are taking extra precautions. Community yoga for this Saturday (10/10) has been postponed until next Saturday (10/17).

The main library will also be closing today (10/9) and will be closed for Saturday 10/10.

We will reopen again on Monday for normal business hours.

As we begin Banned Books Week, here is what the @americanlibraryassociation said about the week. We couldn’t agree more with their sentiments and support everyone’s right to read. ⤵️⤵️

“Today kicks off #BannedBooksWeek, an annual observation started more than 40 years ago in response to a sudden surge in the number of attempts to censor or remove books in libraries, schools, and bookstores. Sound familiar?

Today, libraries continue to face record numbers of challenges to the books on their shelves. And contrary to common narratives suggesting that concerned parents are driving these challenges, data from ALA’s Office for Intellectual Freedom suggests otherwise – 92% of these challenges came from pressure groups and government officials in 2025.

For this year’s Banned Books Week, we remind our communities that a handful of people running organized censorship campaigns should not be allowed to dictate what the rest of us can read, and that the joy and creativity of reading is not only an act of resistance, but a freedom that must be protected.

Find ways to get involved and spread the word, learn censorship data, and find events throughout the week at https://bit.ly/4yvixbB.” taken in Dadeville Public Library by @dadevillelibrary

We did it Dadeville!! Thanks to all of your voting, one of Dadeville Public Library’s own, Patrick Yim brought home the “2026 Best Librarian of Tallapoosa County!” Things have been so busy with renovations and reopening that we missed the announcement.

It is even more exciting that Dadeville is bringing this home in the first year this category has been around. We are all so blessed to be able to serve this community, and we can’t wait to continue doing amazing things into 2027. Truly thank you Tallapoosa County!

We are so happy to finally be back and open to the public, and we thank you all for your patience during this time. Here is a little tour and info on the updates that occurred while we were away:

- We have added new paint in the stacks room, lobby hallway, and bathrooms.
- We have laid a new colorful and clean carpet throughout the entire stacks room.
- We have updated lobby furniture to make it more comfortable.
- Our young adult section has been shifted to the front left corner to give our young adults and new adults a private area to read or study. It also includes updated shelving to give more room for new titles.
- The computer and digital resources have been condensed on the front right to allow more table and work spaces.
- DVDs and Audiobooks have been relocated to the right back wall and fans have been shifted to the outside shelf by the YA section.
- The children/juniors sections has been opened up to allow room for expansion and give a more open space.
- Sci-fi, Christian fiction, and classics have been fully integrated into the fiction A-Z to give an easier flow. To find your new releases, just look for the red dots.

We hope you are enjoying the updates, and we can’t wait for you to see what else we have coming very soon!
