Happy Anniversary to the BEST @mylifewithoomp!

It's hard to believe it's been 10 years! We celebrated with the perfect weekend. All the things we love, time spent together with family and friends, eating, drinking, and popping some great bottles. Those 2016's are in a NICE spot...Shout out to all of you that made it special. We feel so blessed 🤌🔥🍷🍾🥰

Some wine nights slap harder than others.

A couple from California - @pecandburlwines York Mountain, plush and rich but somehow perfectly balanced. And '96 @springmountainvineyard Cab, CLASSIC old school Napa in a great spot.

Plus a couple from Italy - '20 @gdvajra_barolo Albe, true to Barolo but opend for business. And @laripresa a fresh and slightly funky Sicilian Grenache.

Great friends and great wines. And a couple from MAG. What it's all about 🤌🔥🍷

2024 @sandlandsvineyards Mataro

Missing California right now. It was such a great trip with epic memories and hospitality. We didn't meet up with Tegan of Sandlands, but his wines take me to California, so it seemed right to open this. Really hit the spot paired up with some @flannerybeef hangar steaks.

This Mataro is so good! Coming out of Contra Consta County, with old vines, urban sprawl, and banks of beach sand. There's a sappy elegance I find in the best CoCo wines (Evangelho!!). Bright and complex with brambley fruits, tons of energy, and really delicious. I can't wait to go back. In the meantime, I'll let the glass take me there 🤌🔥🍷

2023 Kutch Falstaff Vineyard Pinot Noir

Tonight is the finale of our California trip. @zunicafe roast chicken and a nice bottle of Sonoma Pinot was the perfect cap. The bottle was everything I wanted. Bright, pure, and balanced. Red fruits all the way paired with a wild, savory side. There's energy in the bottle. A perfect pairing with the chicken, which lived up to the hype 🤌🔥🍷

It's been an epic trip in every way. Honestly, one of the greatest travel experiences I've ever had. Family time and great hospitality. Shout out to all of you who made it special!! (more to come on that) 🙏

And no, that second picture wasn't staged 😂 😍

2015 @bedrockwines Bedrock Heritage

This is a baller bottle! I was blown away on day 1, but it got even better on day 2.

Day 1 this was still youthful but integrated. Dark fruited, plum, blackberry and dark cherry with cedar, wild garrigue, fennel and anise. Great balance. The tannins are still grippy. On day 2, it's even more integrated. Great complexity. It's giving aged high end Bordeaux vibes.

This could go another 10+ years easy. Shout out to @underthewirewine for pulling this one! A truly great bottle 🤌🔥🍷

2005 @domaine_vincent_girardin Charmes Chambertin

It's not everyday you get to drink GRAND CRU Burg...and this was an EPIC bottle. At 21 years old, it's in a great spot, really quite youthful. So elegant and complex. There's a penetrating power behind the fruit yet it's light across the palate. Forrest floor, pine needle, rose petal, so much depth. Long, lingering, and constantly evolving throughout the entire bottle. Ethereal. A truly GREAT bottle 🤌🔥🍷

2021 @bedrockwines A Buffalo In Montana

Sometimes you come home to a nice surprise 😂 I wasn't planning to open this, but had it in the wrong spot of the cooler and @mylifewithoomph popped the cork. And while I was surprised, I'm glad she did!!

The purity is through the roof. Wild brambley fruits, black cherry, underbrush, a kiss of cedar and spearmint. Layered and pure. This is coming into a really nice spot. The tannins are there but not aggressive. Just a great bottle of Zin 🤌🔥🍷

I decided to pair up these 2 Southern Rhone bottles for a nice side by side. The 2022 @raspail.ay Gigondas brings more pepper, wild black fruits, and earth. The 2021 @clossaintjean_cdp Châteauneuf du Pape is fuller through the mid palate, with more kirsch and violet. You can see the through line in both wines, but each are uniquely themselves. Really good stuff 🤌🔥🍷
