nomad era officially LAUNCHED by @daegan.benison

anyone with nomad experience - lmk what tips you have by @daegan.benison

So I failed on Sunday… like by a lot 🤣 and i want to talk about that.

I wanted to run the Staten Island Half in 1 hour 21 minutes (6:11/mi pace) - to qualify for the NYC Marathon.

I trained for 4 months to hit that goal (tons of volume, dialed nutrition, less going out). Kinda poured myself into it tbh because I really wanted to qualify!

But I ran almost a 1:25 (6:29/mi pace) on Sunday. That’s a big miss 🥲.

And I want to be real - im bummed about that!

I’m using this platform to promote feeling good all the time but that doesn’t mean you erase or ignore things that don’t go your way.

I believe in addressing those things, feeling through them and then finding the positive.

So once I got through half of the race and realized it wasn’t happening - I just let myself feel bad about it. Didn’t fight that. (You will see it in some of these pics lmao)

Ripped a sad boi cry at the finish line.

But at the end of the day moving through that stuff directly allows me to get back to focusing on all the positives that are there. Like:

My family and friends came out to Staten Island during a storm to support me

I shaved 7 minutes off my old half marathon PR

I moved my 200lb body 13.1 miles at 6:29/mi pace after having knee surgery last summer

Got to eat my faceee off after this race with people I love

And I am so incredibly grateful for all of that

I’m proud that I held this delusional goal and missed it publicly because that’s a pattern I want to keep repeating as I try to live life as big as I can. see what’s possible along the way!

And with this finish, I’ve officially completed everything on my NYC bucket list ✔️

Ready to recover now so I can take this new mind and body on the road for my Nomad travel era.

And im feeling really good about that ⚡️ by @daegan.benison
