I remember being a kid hoping & wishing & praying for the day I could see you again. As I started finding my way & becoming my own man, those prayers turned into years of hate. Eventually I had to forgive you not necessarily for you, but for myself because it was a lot carrying all that anger around for years. I probably have spoken about you more in these last 2 months than I ever had in the past 20 years. I can honestly say I finally understand now. The years I spent hating you I wish I could have learned about you instead. I wish I would have never questioned your love for me. I wish I could have done something to help. I wish I knew what I know now back then. I wish for so many moments that unfortunately I will never get to have or experience. Selfishly I wish you was still here. I wanted you to meet your first grandson, who I gave your first name to. Your name continues to live on. I’m happy to hear that even though you felt you couldn’t get the love from your family, you got it from others who took you in as their own. I’m happy that you lived your life how you wanted to & you were happy doing so. I hope you know you were never forgotten & you have always been loved. But like I said I get it. You chose not to suffer & now I hope you’re completely at peace. Watch over your grandson & of course watch over me. I still need you. Who would have thought that all those hours & late nights filled with procrastination & partyin would have eventually paid off 😅😂👨🏾‍🎓

But seriously .. what started as a way for me to jus continue to play basketball ended up bein the way for me to truly find myself over the years. 2 schools & many semesters later here I am ! The tough times helped build my character & the testing times strengthened my faith. I never knew I had this much fight in me to achieve something like this & I thank God for allowin me to see this through. The good times will forever keep me grateful. To everyone that played a part in my college experience from those that supported me since my first day freshman year, to the strangers I met along the way that became family, all my teammates who I went to war with for 4 seasons & to those who allowed me to cheat off them or might of did a paper or 2 for me 😂 I thank you all ! 🙏🏾 taken in Ramapo College of New Jersey by @daetredos
