On July 18th Tom-Tom Discotec presents @domingo_de_cumbia - w/ DJ Chila del mar, Daferwa, El Magnifico. For over a decade, the mother of all cumbia events from Cologne has been bringing together foreign cumbia acts and local enthusiasts: From Colombia to the whole of America, and from there to the diaspora on the Rhine. Nostalgic classics and current cumbia bangers will send you on a short vacation. Pack your favorite people and your best dance moves. DJ Chila del mar is a Peruvian interdisciplinary artist and cultural worker, currently based in Cologne. She builds her sets as affective storytelling, based in her own memories and embodied knowledge of dancing as a historical and community practice. Depending on the occasion, she blesses every set with an intention and navigates through different genres and times of the wide and complex spectrum of Latin American rhythms and sounds for dancing. @daferwa is a DJ, music networker and radio host based in Koln. Born in Tuฬˆbingen to a Mexican-German family, he is well-known for bridging global dance cultures, blending rhythms like Cumbia, Afrobeats, Reggaeton, and Baile Funk. In 2007 he co-founded โ€œMash It Up!โ€ to bring global electronic music artists to Cologne, and later started the popular โ€œDomingo de Cumbiaโ€ event series.
