From books to art, culture and beyond ya? Yes.. visi kami. Pas dapat undangan dari Adam (@uultimatuum) untuk ikut acara @circle.waves, loh kok cuma abdi yg sharing? Padahal kan banyak temen-temen komunitas yang bakal dateng.. ternyata mau ngorek sisi rapuh sampai tegarnya @parmadenda_ 🥹

Yaa udah, jadinya sharing pengalaman aja bareng sama Co-initiator Circle Waves @derrytamu . Perpustakaan itu hanya awalan, akhirannya creative hub, lebih luas lagi.. inspirasi banyak kita ambil dari majalah Monocle, editor @andrewtuck , masa lalu, dan gallery. Supaya suasana library kurang lebih mirip @lebonmarcherivegauche ketika di sulap oleh @sarahandelman 😂. PD will always gravitate towards collaboration, global affairs, dan… quality.

Oiya kemarin sharing sama Sahrul (@sahrullmam ) juga! Thank you CW, makanannya bikin gabisa tidur oleh sous chef @yogimfatahilah .

HATUR NUHUN🙏🏻 - Akhirnya! I’m able to share and thank all the talented people who made PD’s opening showcase possible. We’ve unveiled our first step: 1000+ quality books, 13 artists, 40+ artworks, poetry personification, theatrical performance, and live musical poetry at our library and creative hub.✨

Our building design took cues from museums curated beautifully by the one and only @______ayusha and a memorable visit to salihara with a good friend, unveiling PD also as an art space, Japanese shoin-zukuri, and Antonio Gaudi’s Barcelona masterpieces, masterfully brought to life by Om Harry Ramdani from @plateauarchitecture . 📚🎨✨

Huge shout out to the masterminds: @yogimfatahilah , @6odam , and @kkasmohamad for their unmatched project expertise, resulting in a 202% follower surge for @parmadenda_ and 150+ opening attendees! 🙌 Also, endless support from @circle.waves .

I’m a feminist… by accident. Back in 2018, I met Pak Uyus, a car dealership owner who had just become an RW leader. He came with bad news. Fifteen mothers in our kampung were drowning in debt, paying 5–10% interest… per week… to Indonesia’s favorite villain: Bank Emok, also known as loan sharks

He wanted to do something about it.

So we started a credit cooperative.

7 years later, that story of our beginning still lives in my head.

Last year, we have 280 members, 98% of them are women! Someone who make sure there’s food on the table, electricity still running, and school fees are paid (literally a fund manager)

Which ended up taught me that long-term resilience is often built by women.

Men is trying to multiply wealth.
While women is trying to protect the future.

Charity for PD: 4000 books for library📚📓

Tahun ini, @parmadenda mengadakan penggalangan dana bersama para teman-teman donatur untuk mendukung pencapaian target koleksi perpustakaan PD sebesar 4000 buku.

Kami mengucapkan terima kasih yang sebesar-besarnya atas partisipasi para donatur (atau “Patrons) yang telah memberikan kepercayaan kepada PD untuk menyediakan sumber pengetahuan berupa buku-buku berkualitas sebagai perpustakaan dan creative hub di Garut, Jawa Barat.

Dropped by Terrain Bookshop📍Fitzroy, and it instantly felt different. The place isn’t just about books, it’s about how culture and ecology can exist side by side, in conversation.

On one shelf, a zine about bees from Indonesia. On another, an Atmos publication on climate change. Somehow, they fit perfectly reminding me that the environment isn’t separate from us.. it’s woven into our stories, languages, and art.

It made me realize something: aesthetics can be our way of being heard. Books should be enjoyed: not only read, but felt, admired, displayed. They should please the eye as much as the mind.

That’s what I want books to be: a form of entertainment, a piece of art, something that sparks a conversation just by standing on your shelf.
