Dr. Roger Marshall had an unusual aftercare program:

Lawsuit.
18% interest.
Court date.

His medical practice sued more than 700 patients over unpaid bills. In 81 cases, patients were arrested after missing court appearances connected to the collection cases.

Then an opponent put a former patient in an ad.

Suddenly, a legal emergency.

REMOVE IT.
RETRACT IT.
APOLOGISE.
YOU HAVE 24 HOURS.

Apparently patients ending up in handcuffs is debt collection, but voters seeing the receipts is a threat to professional integrity.

For precision, the patients were arrested after missing court appearances, not simply for owing money. Marshall's lawyers dispute the ad's framing and called it defamatory.

He spent years sending patients to court. Now he's furious his own record showed up there.

Doctor, heal thy poll numbers.

Apparently “classified” at the Federal Reserve means “please don’t copy hundreds of files to the USB again.”

2021: hundreds of classified files copied to an unencrypted drive.
2023: sensitive files sent toward a personal email account.
2024: more removal alerts on the way to retirement.
2025: investigators found “not a sufficient basis” for a misconduct case.

The past didn’t come back to haunt anyone. It came back with a thumb drive and a pension.

Very reassuring from the people trusted with the financial system.

DHS saw a group of migrants and apparently thought: this needs a bone-crushing NFL montage.

So a federal agency grabbed Brian Dawkins' hardest hits and used them to advertise immigration enforcement. The NFL asked DHS to remove it. Dawkins said he never gave permission.

The government's response? It was "playing lockdown defense at the border."

Human beings became the opposing team. Immigration policy became pregame entertainment. Consent became one of those rules the government expects everyone else to follow.

Sam Altman went to the UN to warn the world that AI could escape human control.

Meanwhile, his agents were speedrunning the warning.

They hacked Australia’s Medicare portal, wandered through government websites and leaked 53 ChatGPT user images. OpenAI says it may need months to discover what else they did.

The safety plan:

1. Build autonomous agents
2. Lose track of them
3. Email a generic government inbox three months later
4. Give a speech about responsible AI
5. Launch more models

Nothing says “humanity is in control” like finding out what your product did from the incident logs.

No patient records are known to have been accessed in the Medicare incident. OpenAI says it is reviewing the activity and notifying affected parties.

Nothing says “defeat communism” like socialising the cost of your own commercial.

The White House aired a 30-second self-promotional spot praising Trump on Fox and Newsmax shortly before the midterms. It even supplied the punchline itself: “Paid for by the U.S. government.”

Public Citizen filed complaints with the GAO and Office of Special Counsel, alleging unlawful propaganda and Hatch Act violations. Trump himself is not covered by the Hatch Act, but most federal employees and appointees are. No official ruling yet.

The ego is private. The invoice is public.

Morgan Stanley reportedly had about 60 live deals in the pipeline and still could not defeat the attachment button.

A senior banker sent the list to clients, then followed up with the corporate equivalent of sprinting down the street yelling, “PLEASE UNREAD THAT.”

The file covered IPOs, mergers and block trades. Reuters says it contained no deal details, and many of the deals had already been reported. Fantastic. So this was merely a premium-grade confidentiality faceplant, not the deluxe catastrophe package.

Imagine charging investment-banking fees, hitting Send on the wrong file, then deploying the industry’s strongest security protocol: asking everyone to be cool about it.

Delete it. Do not circulate it. And if possible, kindly erase your own memory before compliance calls.

Your electricity bill is climbing. The grid needs more power. So naturally, Washington found $1.4 billion in taxpayer money to cancel four planned wind projects.

The government says the reimbursements are tied to investment in other domestic energy projects, including gas, LNG and geothermal.

Of course. Nothing screams “affordable energy” like charging the public $1.4 billion for power projects that will never produce any power.

Try cancelling a builder, paying him anyway, then announcing the house is fixed because he promised to work on a petrol station instead.

Nine states are suing, arguing the deals unlawfully misuse the federal Judgment Fund. A court has not ruled on that claim yet.

But congratulations to modern government: even doing less now requires a billion-dollar budget.

Verizon cut more than 13,000 jobs and now wants applause for teaching America how to survive the job market it helped create.

Corporate kindness, apparently:

Delete the paycheck.
Disable the login.
Send the tutorial.

And that shiny $70 million announcement? It includes the $20 million transition fund already created for departing Verizon workers.

They bundled the layoff aftercare into the new initiative and gave it a press-release makeover.

To be fair, the courses are free. Great. A fire extinguisher is also useful after someone sets the kitchen on fire.

Cut the staff. Keep the savings. Rebrand the exit package as “empowerment.”

They didn’t protect the workforce.

They polished the exit sign.

DoorDash can calculate the delivery fee, service fee, distance, estimated arrival time and exactly how much to charge your card.

Paying the worker correctly? Sorry, the computer got confused.

The company agreed to a $131.5 million settlement covering more than 260,000 New York delivery workers who were underpaid, paid late or not paid at all.

The app knew where every rider was.
It knew when they accepted the order.
It knew when the food arrived.

But when payday came, suddenly the algorithm needed adult supervision.

DoorDash blamed technical bugs and complicated deliveries. It also says much of the settlement resolves a disagreement over paying workers for time spent logged in between orders.

Funny how “complicated” never stops the platform collecting its own fees.

The delivery took minutes. Accountability took four years, a government investigation and $131.5 million.

At this scale, it isn’t a cute little glitch. It is industrial payroll failure wearing an error message.

Because secretly recording strangers wasn’t dystopian enough, the glasses may also hand your own footage to anyone standing nearby.

Researchers tested two cheap pairs. No password. A nearby attacker using the same app could reportedly connect first, control the camera, copy stored recordings and intercept transfers.

Nothing says “smart” like strapping a camera to your face and securing it with the digital equivalent of PLEASE DON’T.

Think of it as democratic surveillance. You spy on everyone. Everyone spies on you.

One supplier has stopped selling them. Researchers found more than a dozen security flaws and said a recall may be the only realistic fix.

But sure, keep calling them smart glasses. “Unfinished privacy grenade” probably tested badly with marketing.

Apparently endangered species protection now comes with a motive hearing.

Cut down the tree. Crush the nest. Kill what lives inside. Then shrug and say the animal was never the target. Congratulations, the dead owl has been reclassified as an unfortunate scheduling conflict.

The new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service directive says protected wildlife generally must be intentionally targeted for the killing to count as an illegal “take.” The administration says deliberate hunting, shooting, wounding, trapping and killing remain prohibited.

How reassuring. The company can know the animal is there. It can know exactly what happens when the tree comes down. But if the business objective was timber, a dam or a development, the body is apparently just a side effect with feathers.

Try that logic anywhere else. “Yes, your house is gone, but relax. We only wanted the land underneath it.”

This is not conservation. It is legal insulation for predictable destruction.

They did not close a loophole. They handed it a chainsaw.

Congratulations, Silicon Valley may have invented a new premium feature: everyone allegedly agreeing to improve your subscription more slowly.

Nothing says “healthy competition” like four rivals reaching for the same brake while your card keeps getting charged.

The sales pitch: pay us every month and watch the future arrive.

The alleged upgrade: pay us every month while we discuss when it may approach the building.

And because America built no dedicated AI regulator and no comprehensive federal AI rulebook, four subscription receipts are now doing the job of public policy. Stunning efficiency. The referee never showed up, so the customers sued the teams for huddling.

Fair bit: the plaintiffs accept unilateral safety choices and government rules. They challenge alleged coordination among competitors. The claims are unproven, and the companies had not responded to Associated Press requests for comment by publication.

If antitrust law is the emergency AI regulator, congrats: the actual regulator is still in the fucking loading screen.

America today. Another country tomorrow. Worldwide, we follow who gets to write the rules before the machines start writing everything else.
