My last text with him was on the morning he passed away. He was trying to explain to me how to get my tired changed.

Harry Anthony is a name that touches all of our lives in some way shape or form. It’s a name that hundreds of people would look to for solutions to all of our problems, especially me.

There’s a lot that we shared together. Watching children’s movies and tv shows about baby animals late at night, an undisputed love for any sport that has a racquet, and muttering small judgements about everyone’s cooking (especially the level of barbecue smoke).

I find myself wanting to solve problems to help the people around me. I learned that from you. I’ve tried to model my life after you, in all the ways I could. I want to be a problem solver like you were and are for so many. I want that same drive to fix everyone’s problems just to put a smile on their face like you did.

There weren’t a lot of words spoken between us or anyone for that matter. It didn’t matter. We all felt your love and we still do. Without you, I’m sure we will all now have our fair share of problems. But if I’m anything like you, I’m going to do my part to follow in your footsteps and bring smiles to every face I can.

This is all so surreal to imagine you’re gone. But I still feel you in my life, and I’m so proud to have called you Papa. I love you and I promise I’ll get my tire fixed soon, just like you asked.
