heartbeat. by Cherise Michelle is out now on all streaming platforms 🐆 ☎️.

After roughly four years of using these lyrics to sew up my spirit, I feel honored to finally gift you with the tools to do the same.

Heartbeat is hauntingly beautiful to me for many reasons. This song began the night my perception of reality was forever altered. It was the night I almost lost my breath.

When I hear the pain in my voice, I still shiver. I distinctly remember a @thundercatmusic record playing as I felt my body shapeshift from

Flesh to Bones
Bones to Spirit
Spirit to Death.

That’s how it felt the night my heart was punctured.

I’m grateful to be on the other side of what felt like a violent emotional rollercoaster. I know the spilled blood is partially my fault. I was never one to dismiss accountability.

I’m just glad that it’s over now. I’ve finally made it out, by the skin of my teeth.

Thank you, Heartbeat, for saving my life – pun intended. Please pick up the phone next time I call. I’ll need you.
