Introducing: @futurefullstories !

Some of you are new here, and some of you know Ive been working on this for a minute, but Im excited to announce Futurefull — an experimental community supporting interactive storytelling about better futures and the roads we take to get there.

We’re launching with an intimate evening celebrating Queer and BIPOC voices in the TTRPG on Saturday, Nov 22nd from 6-9pm at @christchurchneighborhoodhouse in Old City, and I can’t wait to see you all there as we figure Futurefull out together!

🎲 We’ve got a panel of award-nominated creators in the TTRPG space including heycalamityyy, @bruthaqueon, @4evergmjustin, and @candacethemagnificent, hosted by @vampirehimbo

🪘PLUS you’ll be able to ACTUALLY PLAY in our communal actual play of my new game Olamina, with musical support from Ale Utria of @sonrevolturaphilly and the LEGENDARY @karensmithdrums … its gonna be a great night!

Thank you, @natalieneitagarveymp and @desmondchambers61, for taking the time to meet with the people of Above Rocks and the surrounding towns.

We spoke about the needs of the area:
1) A main road that is repaired and maintained,
2) Reliable access to clean water,
3) Training and business investments brought back into the community.

We heard commitments and people taking action.

Thank you to everyone who came out, spoke up, and continues to advocate for our vibrant community.

Wearing too many hats? Got multiple conflicting careers? Turned all your hobbies into jobbies? We’re building a room for you.

Right now, my good friend @wowthankss and I are agreed on two things: 1) This event needs to happen, and 2) We need your input to make it successful.

Simply put: what does this event need to provide to feel valuable to you?

A couple shapes we’ve been considering:

🥃 A mixer: Meeting other generalists, expanding your network, trading war stories
🎓 A workshop: Learning how to talk about your work, actually drafting a mission statement, perhaps with an expert weighing in
🤝 A pipeline: A way to meet companies and clients looking for your mix of skills
🫂 Peer support: A recurring space to troubleshoot the “generalist” problem together
💭 Something else, or a combination of all of these

Drop a comment and let me know which of these would actually get you in a room — and anything else on your mind!

Olamina is our flagship interactive game where players take on the role of the ancestors of a future we build together. Through song and dice, we tell the story of our descendant Olamina, and guide her through a day in her life. Whether you have big theatre kid energy, or just want to an excuse to play make believe, this is the spot to be.

Had to do another poster! 🦸🏾‍♂️

Still beaming from this masssive win with @bicgrant. Ive been applying for grants for Olamina for over two years now to no avail; this is the first grant application that won.

It can be hard to stay positive through that process. But Olamina is always positive; every person that gets a chance to experience the circle walks away with a real sense of change, possibility, and optimism for the future. *I* believe in this project with all my heart, and I know with this win support is only going to grow.

Much love to everyone who has helped with my applications, listened to me vent, offered words of encouragement, and kept my head pointed to the clouds. And deepest love to the whole @futurefullstories family — we have so much dope shit planned for y’all! Time to take flight.
