swipe to undress Qifrey - I mean to look at those sweet sweet cosplay layers 🫶🏻
for those like me who love a lil sewing post, have some views of the finished costume ! 😌 I especially love the flowwww of this costume, you can see a bit of the fabric movement in the 2nd pic and I can’t wait to see how it will look in photos at Focus cosplay 😍 The flow of fabric is so important in Witch hat atelier and I’m so happy my costume can show it.

I used patterns from @indigo_jinjo, and they were super easy to work with, definitely recommend it !

🌱 the cape alone took 10m of fabric ! It’s a grey blue blend of polyester and cotton, although I initially wanted fully natural fabrics I had to pick this one just because its colour was so accurate 😍

🌸 the sun brooch is made out of EVA foam from @redmooncosplay covered with @worblana ❤️ this method never misses for durable accessories for me, since I don’t have a 3d printer !
Glasses are also Worbla with an acrylic sheet (one transparent, one dyed black with Rit dye) for the lenses 🙌🏻

🌻 The tunic is also super flowy and I really like the grain of this linen blend I chose for it, it’s going to look so natural in photos 🥹
it’s attached to the shirt with magnets so that it can be worn with sleeves up or down.

🌷 the shirt is black spandex and the collar with its ribbing was quiteee hard to do ! very rewarding to complete tho. I chose to modify the pattern a bit to add a zipper at the back to make it easier to wear.
I also added a bodysuit closure at the bottom so it always stays flush and tucked it like Qifrey’s 😌

💐 the wig is a long pre-crimped base that I cut, styled and airbrushed 🤙🏻

🌼 the hat is @fosshape covered in fabric ! First time using this material and I love it sm 🥰

Overall this build was super fun and I can’t wait to wear it properly in September !!

🌹 a rose by any other name…
ok I know the wonderful photo artist @irophob posted these in a carousel a while ago but I do want to give them their spotlight individually 😌
These were taken at @il.volta last year, and I’m still in awe of them !
As we’re nearing another photoevent I’m also reminiscing on the final moments on rush of last year 🤔 I chose to work on all three costumes at the same time last time, whereas this year it’s more one by one and I only have one left to finish ! We’ll see after the event which method I liked best 😌

I borrowed my partner’s blue light glasses to put Miles in his iconic post-timeskip look… doesn’t he look just like his father 🥺
@_brku really created the best Edgeworth pics I could hope for, I’m still in love with this shoot from last summer ❤️ I wonder if I’ll wear him again someday 🤔

see how fast Qifrey switches up ? well I can do it too 🧙🏻

The costume is finished aaaah 😍 so happy with the result ! Got into Witch Hat Atelier with the anime then went to catch up on the manga and binged the whole thing 🫣 so of course Qifrey was a natural choice as a lover of silver haired men with issues 🤌🏻

I’m very proud of my materials choice and of the wig and the airbrush shading on this hehehe 🙌🏻
This is costume 2/3 ready for Focus cosplay in September now ! Gotta go fast 🏃🏻🏃🏻🏃🏻

Now that the contest posting is over (for now 👀), I think it’s a good time to go back to cosplay photoshoots with this beautiful Griffith pic 🌸
I really love the contrast between his angelic exterior and the horror of the character, and it works really well with the flowers too imo !!

I’m taking a little break from booking anything for now, until I finish all my costumes for Focus 🙂‍↕️ I can’t wait for the event, still have a lot to do but prepation is going well !

Finallyyy the video is out !! here’s my Verso cosplay performance at the @cosplayeh Canadian championship selections 🙌🏻 (got a silver medal wheeee 🥈)
Thank you so much @dolldamage for filming this (and for your expert camera moves), I can now cherish this memory both in my mind and on video 🥹

I take a lot of inspiration from drag in my cosplay performances, and I love creating emotion and metaphors on stage, so I paired this one with a lipsync of The light that comes through by @sparkbirdmusic ❤️
The song fits the universe and story of Clair Obscur so well imo, but I’ll leave the parallels to your interpretation with the lyrics overlayed 👀
Even if you haven’t played the game, the emotion of destroying something that you built, knowing it will take a part of you with it can hopefully resonate !

Thanks so much to everyone that came to watch and cheer (I can hear you so well even on camera 🥺)
And of course, congrats to @sandfallgames on building a universe and a story that inspires and keeps inspiring 🙏🏻

🥈 I placed 2nd at the @cosplayeh Canadian championship selections !! 🥹
After resting from this eventful weekend at @montrealcomiccon I can finally wrap it up with a few pictures (thank you @shotbygl for capturing them !)

Huge congratulations of course to our fantastic 1st place winners @statictides_cosplay and her mom ! Their cosplays are works of art, truly inspiring (go check them out !), and I’ll be proud to have them represent Montreal at the finale next year 🎉

Reaching the podium this weekend was especially heartwarming for me because I was on stage 2 days after my 15th cosplay anniversary 🙌🏻 On 2 July 2011, baby Daisen went to Japan Expo dressed as L from Death Note and here I am today… and it’s only the beginning 👀

I poured 300+ hours into this costume from Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and I’m so happy I could top it with an incredible time on stage ✨ these always feel like moments of grace where I forget everything around me and just live in the emotion. During this short performance, I recall looking at the lights above me and feeling so elated, like « yeah, this is exactly where you should be »
I hope you also liked the skit for those of you who were here, and if you weren’t I will post the lovely video taken by my friend soon 😌
I also had so much fun chatting in the green room with my fellow cosplayeh and masquerade contestants 🥰 maybe this is Rupaul’s best friend race after all.
(AND of course not recognising many mutuals in their new cosplays as usual 🤓)

Thank you so much to the @cosplayeh organisation and @gaeleblanchette who made this all happen so smoothly and supported us so well we only had to worry about kicking ass on stage 🫣 you rock !!
thanks as well of course to the judges @petitelune.cos, @pastelpinkcosplay and @kinerai for the award and their kindness in pre-judging 🫶🏻

Finally, I couldn’t have made it without an incredible support system.
