il dolce far niente.

[the sweetness of doing nothing]

for so long, i believed every season of my life had to be productive, that rest had to be earned, and every moment had to lead somewhere. Italy reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones that ask nothing of you at all.

my first international solo trip wasn’t about escaping my life. it was about returning to myself. somewhere between getting lost in new streets, lingering over long dinners, and embracing the beauty of having nowhere to be, i rediscovered parts of myself i’d forgotten were there.

turning 27 here feels symbolic. less like arriving at some perfect destination and more like stepping into a slower, softer way of living. one where joy doesn’t have to be justified, and becoming isn’t rushed.

girl’s day @burnt_hill 🥂🍷

as a non drinker, i honestly went in thinking i’d just be there for the vibes, enjoying the atmosphere and having a cute moment or two. but to my surprise, they had a fully thought out non alcoholic experience and it was so good. not just a basic juice or soda situation, it felt intentional, elevated, and actually part of the experience. i didn’t feel like i was missing out at all, which is rare. if anything it made me appreciate the space even more because it felt inclusive in a way a lot of places overlook.

🇨🇳🥟🥢 There’s something about finding spots like this that make life feel intentional for no reason at all. Just good food, good service, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you slow down and actually enjoy the moment.

I tried the Chef’s Endless Table Indulgence Tier brunch at Yunnan by Potomac in Arlington, a whole taste of Southwest China, and every plate felt like a little experience. Bold flavors, comforting spice, and that “wait… let me savor this” type of good.

It’s the kind of restaurant that makes you feel present, grateful, and already planning your next visit.
