For those who don’t know us… 🤍
Daisy is 4 months old, and 2 months ago she was diagnosed with puppy strangles.

At first, we thought it was just allergies… her eyes went red, then started swelling.
The vet gave us drops, but within 2 days it got worse. Pimples appeared in her ears, around her mouth… and we knew something wasn’t right.

We had never even heard of puppy strangles.
And that’s exactly why we’re sharing this.

Some puppies get it much worse, and it can escalate quickly if it’s not treated early. If your puppy suddenly has swelling, sores, or anything unusual… trust your gut and get it checked.

Daisy had a much tougher start than we ever expected.

When she was diagnosed with puppy strangles, she had to take steroids and became so tired and weak. It was heartbreaking seeing such a young puppy without her usual energy.

As she started getting better, we wanted to make sure she was getting the nutrients she needed while her body recovered and she continued to grow. That’s when we introduced @wilsonspetfood Skin & Coat and Joint Support, and we’ve kept them as part of her routine ever since.

Having a puppy is the most joyful thing, but it can also be really scary.

Only a few days after bringing Daisy home she developed puppy strangles. It started with swelling around her eyes and small bumps on her face, and it progressed very quickly.

We were honestly terrified.

She had to start steroids and eye drops, and there was even a risk it could delay her vaccinations, which meant she might have had to stay at home longer without being able to go out and explore the world.

It’s strange how quickly you realise how much you love this tiny creature who has only just come into your life.

Thankfully she’s doing so much better now and we’re on the final smaller steroid dose 🤍 @cocopupuk bow!

You spend weeks researching the best food, the perfect bed, the right toys and every training tip you can find…

But it’s always the little things that catch you by surprise.

Looking back, I probably worried about all the wrong things.

The muddy paws? You get used to them.

The puppy teeth? They do eventually disappear.

The cuddles? You’ll never get enough of them.

One thing I am glad we had from the start was plenty of long-lasting chews for the teething stage. Daisy has few antlers and yak bars from @tuggspet

Some of Daisy’s best-performing videos were filmed in 30 seconds. A walk, a funny face, a training win or a chaotic puppy moment. People connect with real life far more than perfection.

2. I focused on Daisy’s personality, not just how cute she is.

There are thousands of beautiful Golden Retrievers on Instagram. What makes people come back is feeling like they know your dog. Her funny habits, her stubborn moments, the zoomies, the cuddles and everything in between.

3. I shared what I was learning, not what I already knew.

I’m not a dog trainer. I’m just a first-time dog mum figuring things out alongside Daisy. Sharing our experiences with recall, puppy strangles, enrichment, socialisation and all the little wins and mistakes made the page feel much more genuine.

4. I stopped caring what people thought.

This changed everything.

I stopped worrying that people I knew were watching. I stopped feeling embarrassed about posting too much. I started commenting on other creators’ posts, replying to every comment, starting conversations and supporting other dog accounts.

Instagram is called social media for a reason. The more I treated it like a community instead of a place to post videos, the faster we grew.

5. I paid attention to what people wanted to see.

Cute videos get likes.

Stories, advice and relatable puppy moments get comments, shares and saves.

That’s when Daisy’s page stopped feeling like a dog account and started feeling like a community.
