Introducing “Wonderbird and the Nuthatch”. 🦜✨

Made using a little imagination, some sad birds with a past, a bit of chipped crockery, wonky handmade flowers, plus hours of cutting, fitting, gluing, and figuring out how it would all work together.😂❤️

I’m calling this piece “Two in the Bush,” inspired by that old saying, “A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.”

I’ve always found the sentiment behind that proverb a little unsettling. Be happy with what you already have! Don’t take risks! Don’t go chasing after something you might not get! You already have a bird, for god’s sake. Look at it. It’s right there in your hand. It’s trained to sit there!

But I’ve always wondered about those two birds in the bush. I’m pretty sure they’re the ones who know where it’s at.

What if the whole point is to take the risk? To let go of the bird you’re holding and see what might be waiting for you out there?

So this piece is about those two birds. The ones you don’t quite have yet. The possibilities. The unknown. The things that might be just out of reach.

And maybe sometimes, the things we don’t have are exactly what we need in our lives. 🦜🦜🌳

It’s time to say goodbye to this beauty. 💕 Such a sweet piece, inspired by love in its many forms. I’m so grateful that it’s heading off to a wonderful new home.

Of course, I had to take a few goodbye photos before sending her on her way. And swipe to the last photo to see how I carefully protected all those fragile little bits for her journey.

This past spring, I was at Lidl and bought a little raspberry stick that promised to grow into a glorious, lush raspberry bush. What I actually got was a slightly bigger stick, a few leaves, and some tiny, bitter, completely inedible berries. 😂😭

This piece celebrates the abundant harvest that exists entirely in my imagination. I’m calling it Raspberry Season.🍓

So, I finished my frog prince yesterday and I could not be more thrilled with how he turned out! Such a handsome gentleman!!! 🐸👑This was by far my most ambitious mosaic project yet, on a 3D surface, with jewelry added and rainbow colors that had to each be grouted individually. I hope he brings a smile to your face-we could all use a little more joy these days.🌈🥰🌈
