Welcoming our Olympians home ❤️

We were incredibly proud to fly our Australian Winter Olympians home on QF2 this morning, with an emotional homecoming at Sydney Airport as the athletes were reunited with their family and friends. A huge thank you to our amazing crew and airport teams who looked after them all the way from London.

2026 was Australia’s most successful Winter Olympics in history, with three gold medals, two silver and one bronze.

For more than 75 years, Qantas has supported Australia’s athletes on the world stage, beginning with our first Olympic charter to London in 1948 – and our partnership has continued to grow ever since.

I am not the first and I will not be the last, but my heart is with all of those athletes who have suffered a cruel blow on the final stretch of their Olympic journey. The totality of effort laid waste by a butterfly’s sneeze! No matter the sacrifice, the work, the preparation, resilience, it wasn’t to be this time.

I am very grateful to those who have helped me on this tumultuous journey and I appreciate the good fortune of living in a country where pursuit of dreams is encouraged and allowed. I acknowledge that for some of my fellow athletes they face far greater challenges.
