Yesterday marked 5 years without you papa. It seems as though with the days that pass, it should get easier, but to tell you the truth, it’s only gotten harder. The reality still feels absolutely surreal to me. I think about you with every day that goes by and I am constantly reminded by the sweet memory of your voice and the infectiousness of your laugh. I swear I can still hear the echo of “YOU LITTLE TURD!” in my head as if you were saying it out loud. haha. You were the light, the fun, and the absolute glue to our family. I miss you dearly. Yesterday was one of the hardest days for me. I went fishing in honor of you, I looked at photos and videos and reminisced on all the great memories I had with you and promised myself that I will never let them slip away. No matter how hard it is. I only wish to have created more with you. To have cracked open an ice cold Coors light with you on my 21st birthday, to catch some big fish with you that we’d both be proud of, to explore where you grew up in the great state of Tennessee with you, to be able to dance with you on my wedding day and for you to get hold my future children the way you held me and Johnny. It breaks my heart to not be able to share those experiences with you. But for the rest of my life, I will make sure that who you were to me, the best papa ever, will be shared and remembered. I love you with every ounce of my being and I miss you tremendously. You were the most profound person to me and I know you were to so many others as well. One of your famous lines when I’d point the camera at you was, “Don’t be takin’ pictures of me!!” But man, I sure am glad that I did. Some more famous words from one of the best memories with you, that I have tattooed on me and live by everyday is “Hold on kids!” and we’re definitely hanging in there. I love you dearly my papa. I cannot wait to see you again one day. ❤️🎣
