if you know me, you know my grandma is someone i’ve always lived my life for, and if you were lucky enough to meet her then boy were you lucky.
she’s saved me twice in my lifetime the first time being when she was fortunate enough to get my brothers and i a chance at life outside of the foster care system and the opportunity to be split between both of my aunts (who you all know as my mothers) because of her i became so much more than just another statistic and she became so much more than just my grandma, but my best friend, my roommate of 8+ years, and the only person i’ve been able to look at in my family and see resemblance and similarities and know this is the family i belong to despite not knowing much about my birth for so long.

she always tells me when i was born she was the first to hold me and she looked at me and said “this one is mine, she belongs to me.” i’m honored to be one of the last to hold her, she gave me a chance at a life that was nearly cut short, I will always make sure to live my life in honor of her.

“today my bird flew away, gone to find her big blue jay. starlight, before she took flight i sung a lullaby of bird land every night.”

this is the biggest heartbreak i’ve ever felt so far in life. my first best friend, the first woman i’ve ever known in life itself i thank you for everything from the beginning till the end you continued to be such a light in everyones lives and a huge inspiration/influence in my own.
