Cannes we run it back? This was a pinch-me week in one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people. I played hard and worked a lot harder, and left feeling inspired, productive, exhausted, and sunburnt. But mostly inspired. The recaps are true — creators are media companies (have been), taste and “authenticity” are more important than ever (have been), and humans are concerned about AI when a majority of the Croisette is trying to progress it faster than we can regulate it. What an interesting year in our industry to have candid conversations in 95 degree heat where the masks come off. That was probably my favorite part. Sharing more about what I got out of it as a brand marketer on Substack. But for now, au revoir and merci beaucoup to everyone who makes this week in the French Riviera possible. Dakota Lowe 36 Times - a recreation (!) of Andy Warhol’s first commissioned portrait painting for Ethel Scull. the piece was a gift from her husband for her birthday—they were avid patrons of the arts and the earliest collectors of Pop Art. instead of painting her in his studio, as expected, Warhol took her to a photo booth on 42nd street and said “don’t just sit there, do something!” and something she did. 📷 collaboration with my dear friend and incredible photographer @jessicahowes_ 💙 by @dakotaraelowe
