I met producers Sammy Lopez and Ben Holtzman in 2019 after hearing just one song from this show and immediately said, “Please—whatever this is, I want to be part of it.” I invested, and just before the world shut down, the musical premiered at @sigtheatre

And now, alongside Fiona Rudin and the entire @p3productions.nyc team—here we are.

@wantedmusical opens on Broadway November 8 at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

This is a show about identity, resilience, and the complicated, deeply human pursuit of belonging. It explores what it means to claim your place—and that hits me at my core. My work has always been rooted in lifting voices, building bridges, and investing in stories that reflect the fullness of who we are. WANTED does exactly that—boldly, unapologetically, and with heart.

It’s also a celebration of the American story—not a singular narrative, but a tapestry of lived experiences, contradictions, dreams, and determination.

I couldn’t be more proud to be on this journey.

Honoring my father, Steve A. Mott.

A veteran. A world history teacher. A football, basketball, and track coach whose teams produced All-State athletes year after year. In his later years, an educator and advocate for students with disabilities.

A proud Grambling College man. McNeese State for his master’s. Phi Beta Sigma. CCD teacher on Sundays. Husband to Camille Farris Mott.

Home was Lake Charles, Louisiana. He loved Ray Charles, was generous to a fault, never met a stranger, and a master at the barbecue pit. He was behind the wheel for epic summer vacations, first guided by The Green Book and later the Mobil Travel Guide.

Complex and simple all at once. We wanted for nothing.

A full life. A life of service. A life well lived.

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.

@kphjrdc and I have officially made the move to New York City.

New Orleans gave us five extraordinary years—filled with friendship, joy, and more than a little magic. We’ll always be grateful for the life we built there.

It’s first preview night for Sugar Daddy as the show makes its Off-West End bow at Underbelly Boulevard Soho. 🎭

A little Saturday reflection…

My mom was a Delta (@dstinc1913) My niece is and many cousins as well—so they’ll appreciate my elephants. My mom shared: elephants represent the strength of the collective, forward motion, and a memory so deep it knows where it’s going and why.

My wonderful Italian mother-in-law added her own poetry. She shared a little Italian lore: elephant at the front door, tusks up—keeps envy out, lifts the family, and helps you stand when times get heavy.

These are my good-luck charms. Little reminders of two extraordinary women—my mother and my mother-in-law, Camille and Aggie—angels at the gate who don’t want any mess, so don’t bring none in. 😂
