I’ve been dreading making this post. I normally keep my family and business lives separate, but you touched so many people that I wanted to give them a chance to honor you, since I couldn’t reach everyone.
When I got the news, I knew just from the tone of Momma’s voice that you had left. I fell to my knees and broke. For two days, my heart was literally in pain, and I felt like I’d lost a piece of me that won’t ever come back. It’s been so strange since; I see someone who looks like you everywhere I go. But I’ve also found myself grateful beyond words that I got to be part of your life.
Bradley was a special human being. He loved people, gave wisdom, played hard, was hilarious, and made others feel seen. He was my first best friend, and as kids we did everything together: football, video games, acting out scenes from Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Dragon Ball Z. He’d give away his last dollar, his shoes, even the shirt off his back to a stranger he felt needed it, not for pride, but because he knew what it felt like to be lost or misunderstood. He once lived with the homeless for three days just to walk in their shoes. He was a genius who’d fix people’s cars, build intricate paper guns, and was good enough at Call of Duty to go pro.
Every day since your passing, something has felt like it’s falling apart, but God has also been showing me blessings left and right; I was just focused on the negative. The biggest lesson: check up on the people you haven’t talked to in a while, even the ones you’ve had a falling out with. You never know the last time you’ll see someone, so cherish every moment.
Bradley wrestled with a lot of demons for so long. If anyone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please get them the help they need. Speak to them, even if what they say doesn’t seem important in the moment. Sometimes the biggest thing someone needs is just for another person to listen. Watching you come into this world, I never thought I’d watch you leave it. I love you, Bradley, with all my heart. Your soul will live on forever in the hearts of many, and I’m one of the luckiest people in the world because I got to experience you through every stage of your life by @dalebydefault
