HI AND GOODBYE by Yorina

At the beginning of this dance was “Hi and Goodbye,” a beautiful song by the French artist and friend @y_o_r_i_n_a .

The very first time I heard her song, I immediately imagined the sense of vastness one feels on a rooftop terrace overlooking a city: gazing into the distance, toward new directions, accompanied by a delicate and beautifully melancholic feeling of farewell—one that feels right. A personal story from a time when life was about to take a new direction.

This was also my first collaboration with @tobiasbauerdp one year ago. Thank you for this memorable night of dancing in the rain on the rooftop of nowhere. ✨

And thank you, dear Yorina, for this beautiful song!

UN CORPS — a many-headed being, the circle comes full.

L’ENNUI
Boredom (French: “l’ennui”) often has a bad reputation. Some long for it, while others find people who are bored to be boring. But having a long while at one’s disposal—when there are no immediate sources of entertainment or activity—opens up countless possibilities for creativity, especially in art. We discovered that bus stops are actually wonderful places to dance when boredom strikes.

Langeweile (franz. “l’ennui”) hat oft einen schlechten Ruf. Manche sehnen sich danach, manche finden Menschen, die sich langweilen, langweilig. Eine lange Weile zur Verfügung zu haben, in der es zunächst keine Unterhaltungs- oder Beschäftigungsquellen gibt, eröffnet aber gerade in der Kunst viele Möglichkeiten, sich auszutoben. Wir haben festgestellt, dass es sich an Bushaltestellen bei langer Weile ganz hervorragend tanzen lässt.

BRUT
In the moment of dancing, it often feels as if the one emotion that pushes its way through all other thoughts and feelings finally reaches the surface — allowed to simply exist for the duration of movement. Unforeseen, consuming, undefinable, and deeply moving in its raw form. The French adjective “brut” (“raw,” “unpolished,” “unrefined”) captures precisely this: pure emotion in its unfiltered state.

Im Moment des Tanzens kommt es einem oft vor, als erschiene dasjenige Gefühl an der Oberfläche, das sich neben allen anderen Gedanken und Emotionen den Weg nach ganz vorne bahnt, um für den Moment der Bewegung einfach sein zu dürfen. Unvorhergesehen, einnehmend, undefinierbar und in seiner rohen Form berührend. Das französische Adjektiv “brut” (“roh”, ungeschliffen“, “unausgereift”) meint hier genau das: Emotion pur in seiner unreflektierten Form.
