Independence Day People say “happy 4th of July” I feel this takes away from the powerful message of “INDEPENDENCE” day… it’s a holiday we all celebrate, have BBQ, house parties, light fireworks and enjoy family and friends… which is beautiful… however, tonight as the fireworks were blasting in the sky with thousands of strangers around me, I became emotional to the point that tears flowed from me eyes. Three years ago, we were denied the freedom of celebrating this day by our own country! It scares me that this dose not scare more people. On this 4’th of July, I celebrate, not only our independence from Britain, but also my freedom to celebrate in the open air, on the beach, with thousands of my brothers and sisters, which I was previously denied by our own government! Tyranny is not just something of other countries or the past, something that belongs to the left or to the right of politics…. It is always at the door of “we the people” I pray that the divisive corrupt politicians do not win in the war against “we the people” in dividing us. On this Independence Day of 2023, I celebrate the freedom to celebrate! by @dalila305
