been thinking a lot about how grateful i am to have quit my job last year, to have chosen a different path, to have learned how fragile life is and to have loved and lost so deeply.

I thought about how the women who came before me had to fight to give me a less traveled way forward entirely my own.

I thought about how worrying over whether I was picking the “right” dream or “wasting my time” or, in TikTok speak/the words of Sylvia Plath “letting my figs rot” was like taking this blank canvas they’ve given me and staring at it in fear of picking a color.

So I’ve decided to stop. I’ve decided I quite like the belly of the beast. I think I’ll stay a while.

my family and i used to poke fun at my dad because his response to every ailment was “drink a glass of water.” it didn’t fix my broken arm in fifth grade, but it did slow my breathing down and soothe my tears. still works like a charm 🍀 if you like this, there’s more in my last book, I Belong Deeply to Myself, to hold you over until my next one is ready. 🦋

btw, i’m writing again. and i ❤️ my ipad.

here’s how i’d reimagine a short film for @jeffreycampbell (JC) centered around female pleasure rather than violence.

the stills from “Sexident” the forthcoming short film in promotion of JC’s Sex shoe line are alarming. While of course I don’t know the plot, what I do know is that launching a campaign equating sex with violence in a time where women are quite literally being assaulted and then victim-blamed is certainly a choice.

i personally want to see campaigns where female sexuality is a power. a gift. a becoming.

so, I present, Stilletta for your consideration @jeffreycampbell 👠 i’ve got 5 years of experience in marketing, 1 in filmmaking, and almost 30 as a woman.

Stop worrying so much about whether your glass is half-empty or half-full. You have a glass! It’s fragile and wonderful and all yours! Drink responsibly. Pour into others when you can. Refills are free, but a new cup’ll cost ya!
