Loved the eyes on this trout 👀😍

This was one of the few browns from my solo trip in New Zealand that I spent over an hour fishing to. This fish kept feeding on station while I presented each new fly… It gave each one a good look but nothing promising

10 fly changes later this fish ate a hares ear I’ve had in my box since I started fly fishing! Wild feeling for sure! Can’t wait to get back to the South Island!

I love putting novices on a dry fly. It’s a forgiving way to fly fish, and it’s oh so very fun!

Shoutout to @nick.holland.11 for flying up to see me this summer. The trout were fearing this guy by the end of the trip.

Copped this classic setup off marketplace for $200… 👀

This setup makes bushwhacking, tight casts, and fighting a fish so much more enjoyable on small streams like this. This thing will never leave the quiver.

I did decent in this hole a couple hours before with clients, but I knew we only scratched the surface.

I went into this session with a couple experimental ties and a new leader. I honestly wasn’t expecting much to happen but I love going out with the motive to learn.

I learned a lot from this session and it improved the rest of my week guiding. I would tell you what I learned but then that would ruin the fun for you…

I’m inspired by the simplicity of this sport.

No rods no boat box. Just you and a paddle.

Canoeing offers you a different perspective of the river. Being low to the water and feeling the current pushing on your paddle is highly addictive.

I feel closer to unlocking the rivers mysteries from the seat of a canoe…

Catching my first river wave was one of the highlights of my summer. I paddled hours on lakes bettering my stroke. I even read a whole book about canoeing. Pursuing a goal like this is loads of fun. It’s a perfect way to escape the stress of life.

Go do it. Set a goal. Achieve it.
