Audi S3 Photoshoot (1/3) 💨🛞

- Shot at Weequahic Park, Newark NJ in Late July

Featuring wide angles, closeups, detail shots and nature focused compositions of Dan’s Audi S3, this was one of the most fun shoots I’ve done in a while due to the variety of photos, locations and props.

Also thanks to @alexchiwele & @nnot_daniell for modeling during this project.

Shot on Nikon D850 with an 18-35mm 1.8, 50-100mm 1.8 and 11mm 2.8 Fisheye.

Spiderwebs at 6:00am (3/3) 🕷️🌱🕸️

The final part of a photo series from July featuring spiderwebs, morning light, and water droplets/ dew on the leaves.

Shot using a 150-600mm Zoom and a 105mm 2.8 Macro for a better ability to get closeup shots of the light reflecting on the webs. taken in New Jersey by @daltonbuda

Fisheye Lenses & Wide Angles (2/3) 🍃👁️

This series of photos focuses on wider and more expansive perspectives in nature and was taken in Late July using a 11mm 2.8 Fisheye, and 18-35mm 1.8 Wide Angle and a 50-100mm 1.8 for closeups and detail shots. As I had mentioned in the previous part, this new fisheye lens has been pretty difficult to learn and managing the distortion, photo straightening and some of the vignetting on the sides of the photo has been quite a task, but the results ended up coming out great.

Featured in this series are photos of rocks laying in open rivers in the sunlight, leaf closeups and detail shots, macro photos of tree bark, ultra-wide shots looking up at the tree canopy, and fallen tree trunks. taken in New Jersey by @daltonbuda

Red, Orange & Green Tones in Summer 📸☀️ (1/3)

Been on a brief creative hiatus recently, wanted to break away from the social media aspect of my work for a bit and make sure I’m making designs and photography that are fully completed/polished and at the level I want them to be. I have a ton of work saved up that I’m really excited to share, a lot of unique projects, some photo prints and will even be having a couple themed art gallery showcases before the end of the year for some new photo projects and unreleased work.

The photos in this set were taken in Late July on a nearby nature trail. Featuring a new 11mm Fisheye lens that’s been pretty difficult to learn so far, but it definitely has potential for very creative and unique perspectives. Also shooting on the D850 has allowed me to crop much farther into shots than the D500 I was using prior to this for all my photos, which makes wildlife shots much more attainable at long distances and the lower base ISO of 64 allows for much better nighttime photography.

Fireworks 🎆 📸 (3/3)

The final part of a photo series featuring Fireworks on the night of July 4th, shot in North Jersey at Keansburg Beach. This series was also my first shoot on a new camera after 10 years of using my Nikon D500.

The upgrade to the Nikon D850 and a full frame sensor make these photos much wider and higher quality as well as giving me more dynamic range to work with when editing and a lower base ISO for less grainy/noisy photos. And most importantly the ability to crop my photos in multiple times without sacrificing quality or clarity so I can achieve way more extreme compositions.

Jurassic Park/For the Birds (2/3) 🦅 🦚 🪽

A series of Macro photos of Emu’s, Peacocks and other birds taken on a farm in Milford Pennsylvania.

Emu’s aren’t just a relative of dinosaurs, they are classified as modern living Theropod Dinosaurs. They are flightless birds, native to Australia that evolved to walk instead of fly. They also have three large toes that leave footprints nearly identical to fossilized theropod tracks and can sprint up to 30mph. Being this close to one was mesmerizing and also slightly intimidating because I kept hearing very prehistoric sounding rumbles and grunts coming from it every time I tried to get closer.

These photos were taken early in the morning while the roosters were starting to crow. Around 5-6:30am is one of the best and most peaceful times to be out photographing, especially for taking pictures of animals.
Shifting into quiet shutter mode on my camera helps to not scare or spook the birds when approaching, especially when close up. When shooting in nature the best photos occur when the animals are allowed to exist completely without interruption as if the photographer is not even there.

Close-up Macro Photography of Horses, Donkeys and Goats (1/3) 🐎 🫏 🐐

The first part of a series on animals, focused on capturing close-up photos of horses eyes and fur textures of donkeys and goats shot in Macro.

When shooting Macro without a tripod or stable subject it requires extreme stability to get clear shots, especially when working with animals. There is no way to predict what direction they are going and when - so getting this close requires patience and a lot of attempts/blurry photos, sometimes hours of shooting for a single decent photo. Learning to balance lighting and composition, working with the animals movement not against it, trying to be as respectful as possible as not to scare or startle them, and making sure to keep a safe distance are all important factors in this process.

New York City Photography from Above (3/3) ☁️ 🗽 🦅

A series of photo taken from up above the city - shot at roughly 100mm with a zoom lens at Aperture 1.8-5.6. Even with decent zoom range some of these photos needed to be cropped up to 4x to reach the composition I wanted, when a 300-600mm lens would be more appropriate for this kind of long range work.

I also didn’t bring my 2x Teleconverters with me which would have shifted me from using Single Point Autofocus to Full Manual but giving me twice the zoom range. Nature photography with still subjects is perfect for that, but it would have been much more difficult to manual focus with a 200mm equivalent zoom shooting the parade and city shots with lots of moving subjects.

Knicks Parade (2/3) 🏀🗽🎉

The last series of photos I took at the parade in NYC this past Thursday. Pictured in this slideshow are more large crowds, people celebrating, holding the NYC flag and climbing on lampposts/streetlights. Also pictured are groups standing on garbage trucks, the Statue of Liberty from afar and much more.
