I’m so proud to be a part of the global @amway family, and this latest challenge has brought us closer than ever. A small idea — to design your personal Amway “A” — has turned into a global movement that demonstrates how vast and strong our community is. Showing us that apart as we may be right now, we are still together. #AmwayTogether

Here’s what my “A” means to me:
• Tennis: A game you can play at all ages. I love the physical and mental challenges, and we often play as a family. We can just about fill up two courts now!
• A World Undone by G.J. Meyer. I love reading about history. There is wisdom and context to be found in history that cannot be found elsewhere.
• Sailing: Jimmy Buffet says it best in “Son of a Son of a Sailor" - that's me (@doug.devos will love the Buffet reference)! There’s just nothing like the competition, teamwork, and focus required to compete at a high level of sailing. These skills have served me in all aspects of life.
• Log Book: Seven log books chronicled every moving hour during the two years we circumnavigated the world. This particular book is the first and it details the difficulty of our very first voyage from Fiji to Vanuatu amidst the fiercest storm we'd ever experienced. How we convinced ourselves to keep going, I have yet to understand.
• The Shack, by Wm. Paul Young. My faith in Christ is the axis on which my life is centered. Through a gut-wrenching story of loss, this book teaches us how God's grace shines the brightest in our deepest moments of despair and loneliness.
• UE Headphones: I may have a slight obsession with music. No, I don’t play, nor can I sing, but listening to and exploring new music always lifts my spirits.
• Carved bill of a Marlin: There was nothing more exciting than landing a Marlin to break the monotony of being at sea! I purchased this dried and carved bill in the Marquesas, where in the early 2000’s my family visited along with grandparents. We were absolutely stunned by their beauty, and spent a decade talking about how and when to return, so it’s a special place to me.

Seek your adventure. The real lessons you learn will only become clear over the passing of time.
•
I’m feeling pretty nostalgic today. Two years ago, we crossed the finish line aboard Reliance. Chase Smith. Alex George. Mitch DeVries. We circumnavigated the world, and upon return docked in the same slip we departed from. What we accomplished together leaves me more in awe with every passing day. We’ve now been home as long as we were at sea. With every day home, it’s becoming more and more evident how this voyage altered the course of my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without it. I could not be more grateful for the lessons I’ve learned, and the lessons this endeavor has yet to teach me.

My life changed when I found you. Acclimating back to life on land was difficult at times, but then you came along. Something within me recognized you immediately, and I knew we were meant to be. I simply cannot wait to build this life together. I love you, Kelly, with all of my heart.

Note to self: When racing against @nyycamericanmagic helmsman Dean Barker, do not initiate a match race because, well, he’ll make you look stupid. •••
After this past weekend, sailing season has officially come to a close, and I’m pretty bummed about it. Racing on Lake Michigan with my Dad has always been the highlight of my summer, and this time we even convinced my brother-in-law to join! I enjoy sailing because of the competition, but it has a special place in my heart because I can do it with family. •••
This year, we were the first in the fleet to finish a 300mi race from Chicago to Mackinac Island and we had some intense racing out of Harbor Springs and Chicago. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Three and a half years ago, I passed through Indonesia on my way around the world... a few weeks ago, my family and I had an incredible time retracing some of those steps.
•
It’s hard for me to describe how special it was to share a place like this with my family... especially one I never thought I’d visit again. We swam with the same whale sharks, hiked the same peaks in Wayag, and had drinks on the same beach where my friends and I got stranded for New Years Eve 2015/2016.
•
I was fortunate to have many incredible experiences on my voyage, but, aside from photos, I was never able to really share those experiences with my family. This time around, I was able to share those experiences, show my family around a place so familiar to me, tell stories, and, most importantly, create our own.

It was such a joy to celebrate Amway’s 60th anniversary with everyone in Las Vegas! From Amway Business Owners to Amway employees, I’ve been fortunate to grow up around some truly remarkable people. The opportunity this business provides, and the values it represents, have not only spanned decades, they have also transcended geographies and cultures. From India and Asia to Europe and the Americas, the Amway opportunity has remained an attractive and meaningful way for people to build the life they desire. This business will continue to resonate for decades to come because starting a business of your own is truly the greatest adventure ever.

Well, clearly I haven’t driven a regatta in 3.5yrs 🤪. Despite my best efforts, somehow we made the podium! Thanks to Rick for allowing me to drive REV, Ryan for taking it easy on me, and the rest of the guys on REV for getting us around the race course without hitting anyone. Hey Liv. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. You’ve probably found out by now that returning home isn’t as easy as it sounds. After 5 months away and studying abroad in Italy, the reality is, life as usual isn’t life as usual anymore. You’ve changed. You’ve experienced places and cultures in a way you never had before. You’ve gained perspective you may not have set out to gain. Things you used to care about don’t carry the same weight anymore. You’ve seen love and you’ve experienced loss. Despite seeing the same person when you look in the mirror, you’re different, and you’re trying to figure out how that blends with who you used to be. I know how that feels. It takes time to realize, but you’ve grown in ways you can’t comprehend right now. You’re a different person, Liv, a BETTER person, but you’re still the same, goofy little sister I’ve always known and deeply loved. Enjoy this semester to the fullest, and if I can give you one piece of advice, embrace the difference in you. Own it. Be proud of this new you. What are some of the places that take your breath away? For me, this is one of them. I took this photo somewhere in the never ending labyrinth of the Chilean fjords. Six or so different glaciers empty into it, creating this ridiculous scene.
Ironically, Reliance wasn’t rated for ice, so when the ice brash got thicker the further into the fjord we went, we figured we’d hang back and admire from a distance! Turning the engines off, we simply made lunch and watched the ice bounce off the hull as we drifted. It’s still hard to believe I was even there.

Adventure doesn’t have to be consigned to oceans, mountains, beaches and ice. There are opportunities for adventure in your everyday life, if only you dare to take them. I’ll be honest, I’m not very comfortable with a microphone in my hand, my mind starts to reach for words not to be found, but I see this as just another challenge to tackle. An opportunity for adventure in my work. I had one of these opportunities when I was in China recently. After incredible meetings with tech leaders Alibaba and Tencent to learn more about the digital environment in China, we got to talk with Amway Business Owners across China and discuss Amway’s vision for the future. We talked about how, together, we are designing for the next generation of entrepreneurs. But mostly, we just listened. And danced? 😂

Sometimes the expanse of the ocean seems to offer such freedom. Other times, it can feel like an abyss. •
At this time last year, I was on my way home. After 25 months at sea, and just a few miles away from circumnavigating the world, we weighed anchor, cleared customs, and departed Tonga for Fiji. Grandma‘s Leukemia had gotten to the point where it was time for me to come home. The fastest way home, we decided, was to run 3 days to Fiji (the final destination of our voyage) and I would fly home from there. On the 2nd day, while I was cleaning, Mitch told me we received a message from Dad. I knew why. Outside, I put on my headphones in a vain attempt to talk in a “private” place over the rumble of the engines and the churning of the water. It was a pristine day. I could hear Dad well enough, but when Mom tried to talk the connection became frustratingly shaky. Then Grandpa walked in. Idk how, but I could hear him enter the room. Or maybe I felt it. He wanted to talk. “Dalton! Where are you today?!” I managed to muster, “I’m on my way home Grandpa.” Amidst Grandma’s passing, all he wanted to do was congratulate me on my accomplishment, tell me how proud he was, how much he loved me, and all I could get out was “I love you, Grandpa. I’ll be home soon.” Escaping to the top deck to process all the conflicting emotions, this view was forever seared into my memory. The ocean’s never felt so large. •
In that same moment, it was impossible to overlook the beauty of God’s creation and feel his calming presence. Maybe being held in the arms of Jesus feels something like this. by @daltondevos_
