This reel isn’t about perfection—it’s about persistence.

Some days I celebrated. Some days I survived. I graduated, passed my boards on the first try, danced alone, showed up for people, and learned to show up for myself too.

Attending #PsychCongressElevate2025 in Las Vegas was nothing short of transformative. As an Elevate Scholar this year, I walked into that space eager to learn—and I walked away deeply inspired, empowered, and more committed than ever to the work we do in mental health.

One of the most defining moments for me was the session on Interventional Psychiatry. I was captivated by how deeply science, compassion, and innovation can intersect to bring relief to patients struggling with treatment-resistant disorders. From neurosteroid modulation to NMDA receptor regulation, the insights shared in this session sparked something in me. It reminded me that psychiatry isn’t static—it’s evolving, and I want to be at the forefront of that evolution. This session shaped my deepening interest in neuromodulation techniques and the potential they hold to truly change lives. But what made Elevate unforgettable wasn’t just the science—it was the people.

Meeting peers and mentors from across the country—each bringing their own stories, challenges, and victories—reminded me that we are part of a movement. A movement that is humanizing mental health care, one patient at a time.

And then, I met @knwilliams_pa , one of the event co-chairs. Seeing someone who looks like me—standing tall, leading with wisdom and grace in such an influential role—lit a fire in me. His presence alone broke barriers. But it was his masterful co-hosting and his heartfelt, practical advice on mental health leadership that left a lasting imprint. Kevin reminded me that excellence in this field isn’t about fitting in; it’s about showing up, standing firm in your truth, and pushing the standard forward for those coming behind you.

He said something that will stay with me: “Be so good they can’t ignore you—but be kind enough to lift others as you climb.” That’s the kind of practitioner—and person—I strive to be.

Elevate 2025 wasn’t just a conference. It was a call to action. A reminder that representation matters, that healing is both a science and an art, and that as clinicians, our growth fuels our ability to serve.
