Turn counter clock.. and this is where I am in a modular way.. or should I say early, very early start, but also very broke and very happy! Most modules have either been a very good deal and/or well considered and checked out as best I could..

Case and power from Artura @arturia_official Unfortanly they do not have the exact case in modularGrid @modulargridnet which is an awesome place.. anyway.. a little clock from 2Hp @twohpmodular Then a 1 IN - three OUT module from Multiple Activo sl and I can see it come handy (I could not find any Instagram)? Then the Pianist from NOH Modular @noh_modular which actually got me into this fun mess, love it! Chord from Qu-Bit @qubitelectronix and I’m super exited to start using it. Pico Voice from Erica Synths @ericasynths and the YT previews shows awesome possibilities and sound. An ADSR Envelope from Morphor @morphor.radical.acoustics Great size and a must for what I want.. System 100 / 121 Dual VCF from Behringer @behringer and they do have som great stuff too. And S-610 Composer N from Ladik (does anyone has the instagram??) I’m really exited to play with this.. Pro Out from Oltronic @olitronik_lab This might have to go or save for another setup, but only because I have another with headphones out. All good! Mini Stereo Mixer from Doepher @doepfer_musikelektronik and at last for now, the Befaco output module V2 from @befacosynth and they are almost my neighbour as I’m in Sitges, Barcelona.. :-)

But.. I’m still in a desperate need of a/dual/or more VCA and of course some good reverb and delay.. what else? I’m sure a lot, but.. as a must? And then we’ll take it ambient from there.. obviously in time I’d like to add a line in for the guitar (it is a MUST) and I’d also like to sync it up to my already setup.. I´m so stoked and super exited to start diving into this.. though slowly starting with something easy coming my way to get me going with sound connected to the Pianist chord sequencer..

So happy NOH Modular in a way kicked out my fear and finally get me going..

How very very cool is this!? 🤩 Actually a big dream come true… or should I say, slowly will come true.

Anyway, I have been very fascinated and curious about the modular systems and way of making music for years, especially the ambient part of it, but not sure what’s been holding me back..

Last week I kind of got thrown into it! I won a GIVEAWAY from @noh_modular

The NOH Modular Pianist is an advanced voiced chord sequencer. It sequences chords using v/oct with up to 8-note of polyphony.

It does not create any sound itself, but I’m already dealing in some modules it can work well with and I think this can be perfect for the way I’m creating ambient, in combination with guitar and.. Maybe not the most normal way to get into it, but it was a kick.. in the right direction. :-)

This is more or less the view I have trough the microscope while engraving the tuning machines for Barnett Tuners. Obviously not that fast... up speed 1007%

This is a design I have engraved for them before and just now I´m drawing up some new design never seen before..

It´s defiantly a bit challenging, not for the small size, but for the strange shape available.. and it has to fit, to flow, to look good for the naked eye, look good on photos. Not too busy and messy, not too naked and open.. bla bla..

What´s better combining the love of hand engraving with the love of music, and especially anything guitar.. 🤷 can´t help it.

It´s been a part of my life for about 45 years till now and I still suck as a guitar player.. but man it´s fun and what it´s all about.

The plates for the tuning machines are for @barnettguitars legendary classical guitars. They are really really good! Seriously good..

And I think I hear rumors that they are coming out with a series for both acoustic steel string and electric guitars as well, and if they are just as good, I know what I will use for my next project..

The tools I´m working with are of course from Lindsay Engraving. @lindsayengraving The very best engraving tools you can get. Trust me..

Anyway, back to work.. more plates to engrave..

Oh well, now she’s finally gone, but a little fun fact.. I didn’t know, but I made someone very happy.

If you have the BOSS CH-1 with either the light blue or the pink label at the back, they’re probably around double value as the others. Reason why is: Pre-2001 (Analog): Early CH-1 pedals, produced between 1989 and 2001, used an analog Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) chip (specifically the MN3007).

Many players and collectors seek these out because they believe the analog circuitry provides a warmer, more "organic" modulation sound that sits better in a mix, particularly for classic rock or vintage-style tones.

If you’re after the Hi-Fi sound.. look for something else..

Me personally I never really figured chorus, at least not the Boss chorus.. and this pedal even if it is actually from 1989 probably have less than a full song usage.. the only reason I did not wanted to sell it was I’m getting silly attached to things.. It was my very first pedal, gift from my parents, sentimental value. But I don’t use it, I never did.. so better someone else can enjoy it and I can spend the money on something I can use.. right? (Though if I was full of money, I would have kept it)

Anyway, she’s gone.. and someone is very happy for a good price.

hhhMMMMMmmm…

Back and forth, on and off.. or should I just give it away as an accidentally relic?

I guess this is how so many guitars ands up as “relics” at the second hand market.. I like a serious and well thought relic, but it has also become a name to put on failed projects.

I like the process, but..

..I would need some new/better tuning machines (preferably the oval Fender vintage look by @fender), a new neck pickup, for bridge I already have a Wilkinson by @wilkinsondirect .. a router for the Jazzmaster tremolo cavity.. it’s all marked up and ready to dig out, but now I can’t even afford another spray can of primer, then paint and clear..

Wonder what I was thinking, or if I did at all...?

Anyway, it’ll be a a whatever undefined infinite break in the process.. it was seriously good for the mental health. Get away from a toxic work community, use your body a little.. but now it just starts to be an economic frustration and I feel like another fail..

When I say new, I don’t mind secondhand or even well used, but a decent quality.. but even strings is far out of reach..

Fun as long as it lasted..

Probably for special interested, but for me it is like therapy.. at least to create it, I dont know about to listen to it.

I absolutely do love messing around with forever reverse delay and create ambient delayed rhythms.

What is really cool with the TC Electronic Plethora pedal and TonePrint from TC Electronic by @tcelectronic is that I can press the MESH footswitch and play on top of the delay without interfering with the delay tone unless I release the footswitch..

So here Im playing a little with reverse delay set to full time which I believe is forever.. (dont worry, only a couple of minutes recording) then the MESH footswitch on and off and some improvising on top.. with a little touch on Infinite Sustain.. 😱

How does it sound? Be honest.. 🤷

Common, it is not that easy to keep control on three infinite sustain pedals, recording and drinking coffee at the same time.. so give me a little slack, ok..?

..but I do think it sounds pretty nice when the beat starts.. but hey, I do not expect too many to listen for maybe up till 40 seconds till that starts.. so it is ok to keep scrolling, life is too short for stopping up. :-)

But there is another day tomorrow, maybe.. and I might start the beat a little more early.. or not.

I so sorry, I have to let you go..

It is super fun playing with pitch, harmony and weird tones and stuff, but I´m not sure we really got to understand each other in a good way.. it is true though that your deep pitch is really really good, so maybe Pitch Fork would be more for me.. but then again, I didn’t get it for the pitch only in the first place.

..or maybe I didn´t give you the space and try as hard as I should, but..

I’m sure and hop you will get a better life with someone else. With someone more understanding.. and maybe even more patient..

It was my first go with ehx, but even this first experience, there are a few other ehx pedals I’m dying to try at some point.. and I believe will be a much more “my” kind of thing.. ?

Freeze and Deep Freeze for sure. I’m curious about the Canyon delay and and some loooooong reverbs.. I can’t remember all the names.. anyway, good luck!
