Don’t dream it, be it🫦

I discovered Rocky Horror at a very young age, to say it saved me would be an overstatement but not entirely false either.
I was obsessed. We had a copy on VHS, recorded from TV. A lady at my father’s work made me a cassette of the soundtrack. I had my G.I. Joe action figures perform the floor show on a stage I’d made, lit by Xmas lights. When I was 8 or 9 my sister took me to see it live on stage. I think Billy T James played the narrator. In my teens I had the pleasure of working the late night weekend screenings at the Civic Theatre. While most of the sex stuff initially went over my head, I absolutely received the celebration of otherness. Of non conformity. A smirking loud, proud, flamboyant, dance inducing middle finger to oppressive reductionist binary, conservative values. It said, well you’re def weird but you are not alone.

“Here was someone unapologetically flamboyant, sensual, theatrical, masculine and feminine all at once-and completely free of the rules about who you were supposed to be.
He showed me that being different could be beautiful.”

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the longest running theatrical release in the history of cinema🫦 and still counting.

Dr Frank-N-Furter, Wadsworth the Butler, Pennywise the Dancing Clown, Long John Silver, and Darkness.
Tim Curry’s work has had a profound impact on myself and so many, many others. What a tremendous gift.

Tim Curry, farewell and thank you💋
