Been pretty quiet on social media the past few years, but this past weekend was something we have been wanting to accomplish for almost two decades. When I took up lifting at 16 and competed for the first time, looking back, I really just wanted to be more like my dad. Lifting has always been a common-ground for my dad and I and a place where all things are equal. No matter your color, creed or race, a pound is a pound and hard work is hard work. The gym is a place where you can make changes that echo in other areas of your life and the older I get, the more I realize how necessary it is for my mental health. Back in July we looked at each other over a large pepperoni pizza and said, “Are we really doing this?” and the photos above are a small handful of our first show together as father and son. @kingarthur2552 thank you for the unbelievable guidance and knowledge you shared with my father and I and to my entire family, thank you. There’s no way I could have dreamed of doing this without each of you. Lastly, as strange as it feels to say this as a son, I’m proud of you dad.
