Lovely family outing to the Bird Garden at Monte Casino. The girls loved feeding the ducks, learning about all the very colourful and peculiar birds and spending good quality time at the play area. Always such a blessing to see them enjoying life and exploring new things! Kept me on my toes though, especially as the little one is also now running!

Spreadsheets all day. Then this till bed time.
I've always believed that no matter how hard you work to provide for your family, it must never replace actually spending time with them. They will remember YOU, not the nice car or elaborate gifts. Being their dad is the job that really counts!

A new leg and back on my feet the very same day💪

Recently, my prosthetist fitted me with a direct socket, which meant we could build and fit my prosthesis in a single session. One of the things I appreciated most was being able to walk out of the clinic wearing my new leg instead of waiting through multiple appointments. This was especially valuable to me as an athlete when quick fittings meant less time away from the track.

It is important to understand that every amputee's journey is different, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach to prosthetic care. But for me, this process was a great experience, and I'm grateful for the skill, care, and attention that went into making it happen. @icexpress_prosthetics_bionics is a force to be reckoned with!

We stood on the start line as amputees — different paces, different stories, one shared belief:

We weren’t just doing a race.
We participated for every amputee who’s ever wondered, “Do I belong here?”

Limb loss does not mean loss of ambition.
It means we learn to move differently.
To win differently.

Every step was about resilience.
About protecting our mobility.
About turning pain into power.

Crossing that finish line wasn’t about the time on a watch —
it was about community, visibility, and proving that we move forward together.

2025 -what a special year you were! 😁

I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on 2025. It was a year filled with so many joyful moments.
I have come to realise that it is not only a blessing to be a stay at home mom and wife, but a privilege. Yes, it comes with a lot of sacrifices and not every day is all sunshine and roses but it is so worth it, to me.
This year I got to rest during my second pregnancy and truly soak up the time with my oldest before she became a big sister. By the Lord’s grace I was able to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean) and although it was not as life changing as I expected it to be, it was an answered prayer and truly a blessing.
This year consisted of lots of dancing & singing, walks around the neighbourhood, time spent with friends, visits from family and visits to family.
It was a year of settling into a new community and finding our new rhythm in the midst of the chaos.

Thank you 2025! At times it was 2020Thrive and at other times it was 2020Survive. But all in all, God remained good!

I've officially entered the Jacaranda Half Marathon taking place on 8 November. But sheesh, getting back to training after a long break is challenging to say the least. But my advice is to take it slow and allow your body to adapt. Before you know it, your base workouts will transform from bicycle-kicking the air to running like the wind!

✨ One year since retiring from Athletics ✨
What a year it’s been: we moved to Johannesburg, welcomed our second little girl (just 3 days after I wrote my final Actuarial exam 😅), and embraced life as a family of four.

While I’ve stepped away from the Paralympic stage (and miss it immensely), I haven’t hung up my blades just yet. Road running is calling, and I’m excited for this new chapter! 🏃‍♀️💫
