We were already on our way back to camp after an afternoon where we had somehow already seen six leopards, when @mattyardleyafrica spotted one more, very far away, lying perfectly across this rock. At first I genuinely thought he was joking 😅 But sure enough, there he was, with the last light of the day falling perfectly across him.

This was taken on one of my first safaris and, to this day, it’s still one of my favorite photographs I’ve ever taken 🖤

Possibly one of the cutest antelopes out there 🥺 AND as if they cant get any more endearing, their name means “giraffe-necked” in Somali 🧡
.
Gerenuk are one of the “Samburu Special Five”, which consists of five species associated with northern Kenya that aren’t commonly seen across the rest of the country. They were one of the main reasons I wanted to visit Samburu in the first place and I’m so happy that we managed to find them on multiple drives and spend some time with them ✨
